Nashville, Tenn. (June 23, 2022) — On October 4, 1974, country and southern rock icon Charlie Daniels held the first Volunteer Jam at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Now, nearly 50 years later, the complete performance from that evening will see the light of day for the very first time. Charlie Daniels & Friends: Volunteer Jam 1 - 1974 - The Legend Begins drops on August 26, 2022, via Blue Hat Records and BFD / Audium Nashville.

The 12-track album includes live performances from The Charlie Daniels Band with special guests or “volunteer" musicians Toy Caldwell and Paul Riddle of The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers’ Dickey Betts, and Jamie Nichol. The previously unreleased project includes “Tennessee Waltz,” “Whiskey,” “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Caballo Diablo,” “Jambalaya,” "The South's Gonna Do It (Again)," and more.

"The Volunteer Jam was a magical evening,” says Daniels’ longtime manager and Blue Hat Records president David Corlew. "There was no other event like it. There has never been and will never be. This is the first one. The beginning, where it all started. So let this first Jam be your melodic introduction to a musical legend like no other.”

About Charlie Daniels
From his Dove Award-winning gospel albums to his genre-defining southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America's musical landscape than the late Charlie Daniels. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor, and a true road warrior, Daniels parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children, and others in need. The Charlie Daniels Band has long populated radio with memorable hits and his signature song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." Over the course of his career, Daniels received numerous accolades, including his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame and becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Daniels helped to shine the spotlight on the many causes that were close to his heart. He was a staunch supporter of the military and gave his time and talent to numerous charitable organizations, including The Journey Home Project, that he founded in 2014 with his manager, David Corlew, to help veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Daniels passed away on July 6, 2020. He was 83.

Charlie Daniels and Friends Volenteer Jam #1 1974
I just want to thank you so much for FINALLY making this available. My first concert ever was Little Feat, Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band at Winterland 12-21-74. I don't suppose that you might have a Sound Board of that show that you might consider as an archival release? Or anything CDB that might be in the Bill Graham Wolfgangs Vault archives...

I can hardly wait!!!
If the complete Volunteer Jam hits the shelves, this will be a treat for fans of the CDB. For years, we heard the live cuts “No Place To Go” and “Orange Blossom Special” from the “Fire On The Mountain” album and a 45rpm single of excerpts from the first show. The release of the complete concert will be one for the ages. Was afraid that the original tapes might have gotten lost or thrown out. Glad that didn’t happen. I saw the CDB live in concert three different times, and the first was in 1980 with Johnny Lee and Mickey Gilley as the opening acts. The Charlie Daniels Band lives again!

Charlie Daniels sheet music
Anyone know where to find CDB sheet music, especially from the 70's? I have Reflections and Full Moon, but would love to get my hands on Nightrider, Saddle Tramp etc.
