Artificial Unintelligence - Soapbox Jr.
Not too long ago, I wrote about the trend that was going on Facebook – and I don’t mean viral trend – was dozens of AI generated final tour announcements for 2026.
Remember when Facebook and their parent company, Meta, used to try to shut down anything they deemed “fake” on their platform?&
Apparently, that’s ancient history.<
Facebook has welcomed a large number of pages which contain nothing more than AI generated “news.” Most manufacture tender and moving stories of celebrities, or how everyone from Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood and George Strait have honored Charlie Kirk in the weeks following his assassination, with both Reba and Dolly paying $50 Million (each!) to Charlie's widow to raise their children.
The curious Bad Bunny Super Bowl announcement which has been met with lots of controversy has gotten in on the act by generating stories about celebrity complaints and alternatives to the official show. Guitar legend Carlos Santana even had to correct the record that he did not complain about Mr. Bunny’s announcement, but rather acknowledged that it was an “AI Hoax.”
One post I saw earlier this week was extra cringeworthy as it showed video of Willie Nelson – who by some AI accounts has been on his deathbed for more than a year – embracing a ghostly Diane Keaton looking like she was hanging out with Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin Skywalker at the end of “Return of the Jedi.”
However, the current AI trend is celebrity birthdays. Did you know that every celebrity, and I mean EVERY celebrity, was born in the month of October?
>It’s quite astounding, actually.
And each celebrity comes with their own AI-approved birthday cake which is perfect size for said celebrities to hold up to the camera with their ages emblazoned with numeral candles.
Never mind that their ages are usually off by 5-10 years. This morning I saw a Johnny Depp birthday post who looked like he was in his mid-80s, although I believe they showed his age as being 67 even though he’s only 63.<
And coincidentally, Michael J. Fox is at and Applebee’s somewhere celebrating his 74th birthday, even though he was born in 1961.
The most blatant one has been Robin Williams and his wife holding up a cake celebrating his 74th “heavenly” birthday. Most people don’t get to pose with their birthday cakes once they pass on, and he also posed two weeks ago for his 63rdbirthday on October 3rd.
AI doesn’t seem quite so intelligent when it can’t even do basic math.
think you get the picture.
When it comes to the problems in the world, this probably ranks pretty low, but it is annoying because people get sucked into these posts, even if it is only to correct the obviously incorrect information.<
Maybe that’s the purpose. These pages put up incorrect information that the owners of the pages know is false to get their organic reach (who sees the posts without paying for boosting it) numbers up because people click to correct.<
Whatever the case, the best solution is to report the pages, and report the posts for sharing false information.
Maybe after a bunch of complaints, Facebook will be forced to deal with the situation.
I’m not sure how this is gonna work, but for starters, here’s some of the pages flooding timelines with AI generated malarkey:

This is just scratching the surface
Don’t get me wrong, AI has its purpose and can be harnessed to help make tasks easier. I’ve been using it to help promote new CDB hats in stock with AI-generated models, and possibly to help reconstruct some unfinished CDB music in the future, but It’s merely a creative tool, and one that needs to be kept in check.
Since Facebook won’t do it, we need to be aware of its misuse and report it.
We need to remember those wise words that the great Abraham Lincoln said, “Don’t Believe Everything You Read on the Internet.” <
What do you think?
Let’s all make the day count!
Pray for our troops, our police, the Peace of Jerusalem and our nation.
God Bless America!
