An Open Letter to America - Soapbox Rewind

*NOTE* Charlie is gearing up for the release of his book, Never Look at the Empty Seats, and his time will be limited, so for the next few weeks, he's going to cut back on his soapbox to one new one a week, unless major news happens to which he will probably write a Special Edition. In the meantime, we will be posting some more Soapbox Rewinds. This one is from 2008. - TeamCDB

My friends and neighbors, my brothers and sisters, my supporters, my detractors, Democrat, Republican, Baptist, Catholic, sophisticates and fellow hillbillies, lend me your ears, or rather your eyes for a few minutes.

Upon reflection, I find myself guilty lately of falling in with the bad news crowd, and goodness knows theres plenty of it to fall into, but since Ive been guilty of accentuating the negative and ignoring the positive lately, Id like do something different.

There is certainly a lot wrong with our country, but sometimes by being overwhelmed by the twenty-four-hour news cycles and the endless flow of bad news, we tend to forget that America is still America, the envy of the world and the greatest nation the world has ever known.

We are still the freest, the most prosperous, the most powerful, and the most technologically advanced nation on Earth.

We can live where we want, pursue our dreams, raise our families in whatever faith we desire and vote candidates out of office when we want to.

We have the greatest industrial capacity in the world, one of the planets biggest caches of natural resources, and the minds of the best and the brightest to bring about the energy revolution we so desperately need.

We lead the world in the treatment of catastrophic diseases and the development of new drugs and medicines.

The leadership of our nation is not decided by a military coup or headed by a puppet leader. We dont have to fear a midnight knock on the door or a sentence in a gulag if we disagree with the party in power.

The heartland of America has some of the most fertile soil on Earth. We can easily feed ourselves and a goodly part of the rest of the world.

For the most part, we have a population of productive people, who get up and go to work in the morning, pay their bills and taxes, educate their children and lend a helping hand to their neighbors when its needed.

And America, always remember one thing, Jesus Christ died for you and Almighty God is still on His throne, He always will be and He cares about what happens to His children.

Dont let the doomsayers scare you, this nation has weathered tough financial times before and it has always bounced back and it will this time too. Weve survived wars, terrorist attacks, crooked politicians, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and earthquakes.

This too shall pass.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, our police and for the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

Amen, Amen & Amen Charlie, who would have thought that with Obama we would have a GDP 1.3% average over 8 years. With Donald Trump we have 3.1 % GDP in his first full quarter. America rocks again thanks to our heritage of Abraham. Isaac & Jacob and great leaders like President Donald Trump. God Bless Plowboy

Best medical care, Luxembourg, greatest industrial capacity, China, richest resources, Russia, etc. Muslims are investigated, treated without due process, with people demanded they be barred from the country. Mormons, Catholics, Jews, and other groups have a long history of oppression here. If a group asks for equality, it is called a war on Christianity. We have some improvements still to make. Sadly, the current president guarantees we will not make any progress but instead slip further behind other nations for at least another 2 years.

Does military service equal college studies?
I don't like that the dreamers who attend college are considered as being equally worthy of citizenship as those who serve in the military. As far as I am concerned, military service (with an honorable discharge of course) makes for a much more promising citizen that some lefty punk who majored in ethnic studies and protests waving the Mexican flag. I would like to see the two ..... veterans and college grads ..... treated differently.
