The Frivolous Foibles of Those Who Consider Themselves Wiser Than Us

This week, the United States Congress will embark on a path that, though many are making predictions, nobody knows for sure where it will lead them and, unfortunately, the nation.

In my 83 years, I have never seen the “United” States of America as divided as it is today on many issues, but none as galvanizing and emotional as present-day politics and the politicians themselves seem intent on fanning the flames, resorting to rabble-rousing, questionable accusation, hyperbole and downright lies, anything to give them the upper hand and a catchy soundbite phrase.

The 116th Congress will be remembered and recorded in history as the one who threw the welfare of America, the American people and the American electoral process into the winds of their avarice, their perverted quest for power and the unholy hatred they hold in their hearts for a president who had the nerve to break the bloodline, to usurp the throne, to interrupt the succession, to stanch the flow of their beloved socialism slash globalism that determines their every action.

This president made either an incompetent fool or an abject liar out of their hero, his predecessor, who told us mediocrity was the “new norm” that the jobs that had left the country were gone forever, and had the audacity to defeat their hand-picked successor and actually started keeping his campaign promises, something their party had never taken as an obligation.

The new prosperity he brought reached not only into the board rooms and Fortune 500 enclaves but into the back streets of the inner city to the forgotten people who the democrats had been promising progress to for decades, only to once again turn their backs on them after the polls closed.

This new and vibrant economy touches women and minorities of every stripe, demographics that had always voted for their party and this was just too much for the pseudo prostitutes on the Hill, who sell their honor, their integrity and the future of this very nation, hanging on to their accursed power by their fingernails, knowing they couldn’t leave something so important as America’s march into socialist oblivion in the hands of the American voters.

One of their number even said if they were concerned that if they didn’t impeach Donald Trump he would be re-elected.

And so, to their everlasting and greedy shame they listened to their baser instincts and by hook, crook, coercion and threat pulled the votes together to back the weakest and only totally partisan impeachment vote in American history.

In so doing they have taken the most stringent and solemn constitutional countermeasure and knowingly debased it to the point of something to be used to harass a president, not remove one.

This Pandora’s box that these hypocrites have opened will not pass into history as an anomaly, but will be up for consideration every time an opposing majority party in the House wants to weaken a president.

Names like Pelosi, Schumer, Schiff, Nadler and all the other ringleaders will be remembered as those who cared so little for America and so much for their own power lust that they reduced the price of America’s most closely guarded political remedy, requiring high crimes and misdemeanors, to a big box store fire sale price requiring only personal hate and ambition.

As this period of history is viewed in retrospect, the asterisks of shame and infamy will attach themselves to these and other names as the collateral damage of their sordid efforts become apparent, the innocent who were jailed, the good men who were threatened and ruined, the
greed and carelessness with which they handled the responsibly that their oath of office required of them.

And another sad casualty, these self-righteous hacks, who were sent to office to serve the people who voted them in have conveniently forgotten the folks at home. It only takes punching a few computer keys to see the conditions of filth, squalor and rat-infested homeless tent cities on the streets of California where feces and used hypodermic needles cover the streets.

And New York?

Are there really no problems in New York for Schumer and Nadler to deal with?

I don’t know where this is going, I suppose the president will be acquitted by the Senate, but I have learned not to trust the body politic regardless of which side of the aisle they sit on.

People, if the current condition of WASHINGTON, DC does not demonstrate the urgent need for term limits, I honestly don’t know what it will take for us to realize that any positive change in American politics means busting up the long-established power bases, getting rid of the cast of characters in both parties who have dominated Capitol Hill for the last thirty years.

Has anybody put a pencil to the cost these cynics have run up trying to refute the 2016 election?

Bet it would be enough to clean up the streets of LA and San Francisco and provide a lot of housing for the homeless there.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops our police and the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

Amen, Amen & Amen Charlie what these politicians are doing is nothing short of treason, even though shifty Schiff & Company won't admit it they are commie's just like Bernie Sanders and Warren. A good friend and I were discussing this morning not only the amount of money being wasted but the time also, for no other purpose than to upsurp the office of President of the USA and defy the will of the American people. Which is why you have been correct for years calling for term limits. I totally agree that we cannot count our chickens until they hatch, these demonrats have more tricks and lies than Carter has liver pills. However the God of Abraham, Issac & Jacob is still on the Throne and in Control :) nuff said God Bless Plowboy

True Wisdom is collective in nature. It contains the collective memories of the folk who have the instincts to feel the hair raise up on the backs of their necks when danger is afoot. Wisdom cannot really be taught by professors, nor by feelgood gurus. Political solutions can only be possible when the fools among us have learned not to run headlong down blind alleys.

Term Limits
I agree with your assessment of term limits for the House and Senate. Everything you stated in your soapbox is proof that term limits are necessary more than ever. We are seeing how these career politicians start caring only about themselves and what will keep them in power and doing whatever it takes to get what they want. Every Christian, Pro-Life American citizens needs to stand up and vote them out of office. Prayer is the answer and turning back to Gods leadership according to His scriptures. Than you for your stand Mr. Daniels!

Charlie Your heart is in the right place - but you are truly being duped by this president. The current economic boom started in 2008 when the stock market was crashing and the DOW elevated from about 7000 to over 20,000 between 2008 and 2016. Fortunately the boom has continued. As far as trump Public record Fake University Fake Charity Makes fun of war hero Mock a disable reporter Brags about grabbing women's genitals? Won't release tax returns. Enjoys company of dictators from other countries How could you not trust a man like that? I probably agree with you on the term limits. If that were in place - all of these politicians would not be scared of standing up to a crooked dishonest president. Open your eyes and get your head out of the sand !

Thank you
I read your soapbox of 1/24/20, agree with you and truly appreciate your words. My wife, my brother and I are all former Marines. What our government has become is not what we took an oath to defend. For some reason many do not see this. The blood of past Patriots means nothing. The destruction of our Country we all see plain as day is masked by a CNN sound bite or a lie on the New York Times editorial page. Like you I love my Country and will not give Her up without a fight. You have music, stages and millions that listen to you. I am just a simple family man in rural Kansas. Retired last year and searched for a voice to help the United States be better than what it has become. Found that voice in working with the Convention of States movement. All we are trying to do is get a chance to simply right the wrongs that have become the DC swamp. As you mention in your piece, the swamp has abandoned the American People in their own districts and replaced what they were sent there to do with their own power and greed. Please consider supporting our Convention of States movement. God bless America and God bless George Washington

Never look at the Empty Seats
Charlie- I never write to "celebrities" or stars, but I read your book and wanted to say Thank You. I was sitting in elk camp in Nov. and had a chance to pick up a book that I had won at our local Friends of the NRA dinner. What a joy it was to read. You have a gift of putting to paper what many of us feel, but have trouble expressing. Feelings about Faith, Family, our government and our society! God bless you and yours, thank you for your insight and thank you for supporting the Friends of NRA program.

I agree with you 100% on this. And when you say you don't know where this is going, I had thought that too. So many people have assumed the Senate will back him, but will they? Or will enough of them want the presidency held by a republican that they can control that they'll side with the "enemy" to accomplish that?

About That Pandora's Box
This is why both parties should be completely void of a platform. Candidates should decide for themselves where they stand on each issue with absolutely no input from their party. And with absolutely no party loyalty, either. Political parties are good for narrowing down the choice for the general election and NOTHING ELSE. -- Tru Cola

The end justifies the means
Government in our nation has become a grotesque, bloated monster, intruding into all aspects of our lives and sucking away the liberty the Founders envisioned. The secularist/humanists so called progressives have only mashed the throttle sending us careening towards socialism/globalism oblivion, stripped of our liberty. It has been my observation that when it comes to the left side of the aisle, The end justifies the means. How dare we the people of the United States of America interfere with their quest for control! Thank you Charlie, your awfully wise for a Long haired country boy!

The know better than us crowd sourcing
You said a mouthful. This may be the period in history where the perpetually triggered got trigger happy. As you said: "their perverted quest for power and the unholy hatred they hold in their hearts for a president " ... along with all those who supported him in any way This power of hatred has bore plenty of fruits. But they can spare us the lecture. It was not an impeachment, it was a coup. But who knew keeping campaign promises was impeachable? ~ NIMOC

The Frivolous Foibles
Sir, you have a keen intellect and a commanding use of the English language! I so thoroughly enjoyed reading your thoughts and wish they would be televised world wide!

What are you gonna do?
"...the politicians themselves seem intent on fanning the flames, resorting to rabble-rousing, questionable accusation, hyperbole and downright lies, anything to give them the upper hand and a catchy soundbite phrase." But that's what Republicans do!

The Frivolous Foibles of Those Who Consider Themselves Wiser Than Us
Charlie, in your 2nd sentence you said, "In my 83 years, I have never seen the โ€œUnitedโ€ States of America as divided as it is today on many issues, but none as galvanizing and emotional as present-day politics and the politicians themselves seem intent on fanning the flames, resorting to rabble-rousing, questionable accusation, hyperbole, and downright lies, anything to give them the upper hand and a catchy soundbite phrase." You then follow it with a lengthy diatribe doing exactly what you complained about in your second sentence, flaming the fire of hatred and division. Not only flame them but also post a lot of misinformation and using specific talking points of the Trump Republicans that is known to be false misleading and inconsistent with the facts. I was a fan until I read this, now frankly you are no better than those you called out in your 2nd sentence. What a sad day when a formerly wise 83-year-old turns into what he says he dislikes. I've met you several time and this is not the Charlie Daniels I remember.

Jonas, could I have a word with you?
If this Soapbox was the trigger pushing you to delete all your CDB tunes from your device all I can say is STOP! Let me help you get off that ledge before somebody gets hurt. You are getting misinformation but not from Charlie. Let's take a another look at this pack of lies that set you off. The ruling class and the deep state hate Trump. Obama was not a great President, HRC was not a good candidate. Our current economy is helping all Americans. Congress feels they know what's best for the country and if Trump is not removed from office we the people will be fooled again and re-elect him. The impeachment case is weak and totally partisan. Congress is walking right over the Constitutional theory of the balance of power and the intent of impeachment which will forever weaken the Constitution. As time passes by the truth will come out and show that some people will do anything for power and money. Congress has work to do and it is in their own backyards. We need term limits now! Congress could make better use of our money. Now Jonas, could you point out which one of these lies triggered you? You see, you are being fed misinformation but it aint coming from Charlie. I said I was willing to help but you gotta help yourself try 2 CDB albums a day for 2 weeks, lay off CNN, MSNBC, etc. and I promise, you will be a new man! Deplora-Bill (good guy with a gun)
