The Departure of Rational Thought

I do not live in, nor pay taxes in the state of California or any of the other sanctuary cities or areas so what goes on there does not affect my daily life, but it does affect the future and security of the United States, and it’s at that standpoint my commentary is aimed.

It is so obvious that what the politicians who support sanctuary for illegal aliens are doing, so for one reason and one reason alone, they smell a voting base, that once installed would represent an unbeatable majority, keeping progressives in power ad infinitum.

There is a price to be paid for such recklessness. A price of social upheaval, a community of criminals who will become bolder and bolder in the commission of local crimes, alienation from the federal government and an unwillingness of the general law-abiding public to come to the rescue when it all goes south, and it will.

There is no possible way for any community to sustain itself under these circumstances and with California and other sanctuaries bleeding tax base every day, the draw on public funds and services will quickly drain the coffers, making it necessary to cut social services to people who won’t understand why.

To me, if a state or city refuses to operate by the same set of laws the rest of the country operates by, they should not share in the taxes the rest of us pay and should be cut off from any discretionary federal funds that would otherwise come their way.

One of the worst things the Obama administration did, and there is a long list of them, was to foster a feeling that some people had the right to enforce and obey the law of the land selectively, constitution be damned and a tacit, tongue in cheek, disrespect for those who enforced the law.

United means we stand together, obeying laws and statutes that are beneficial to all, which can be an unwieldy house of cards when one of the fifty states decides to go it on their own.

I am a big believer in states’ rights, but there are certain laws that have to be universally obeyed by all if there is to be a truly united country, and states’ rights can go extremely amuck.

Segregation was proliferated under the guise of states’ rights to the point that when a southbound train crossed an imaginary line the passengers had to be reshuffled with the black passenger being confined to certain areas of the train for the remainder of the trip.

The opposite thing happened when a northbound train crossed the same line, the black passengers were able to sit in any part of the train they chose,

The same was true on any kind of mass interstate public transportation and was backed up by a segregation law in the Southern States.

Many businesses had “White Only” signs in the windows and sanitary facilities were marked by only three signs, “White Women,” “White Men” and “Colored.”

All schools, restaurants, theaters and all matter of public places were subjected to segregation and African Americans, who paid the same taxes to the same government as the white population, were denied their constitutional rights.

In other words, the rights they were given under federal law were denied them by state laws.

It took rigid federal enforcement and much pain and suffering for the African-American population to reach any stage of parity.

It’s not been but a little over a half-century ago and remember it well from my early years. It was an attitude that hurt not only the development of the Southern States but the whole of the nation, causing bitter feelings and the exodus of some of the South’s finest young black minds.

So, are we to be the United States or the divided states?

Will we live under a uniform set of laws that govern the major policies of all states or will certain states and cities be able to thumb their noses at the rest of us and go their own way?

And how far does it go?

Well, there’s always secession.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, our policy and the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

A House Divided
Amen, Amen & Amen Charlie we read in Matthew 12: 25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand. Your analogy with segregation is spot on, you are also correct as too why these demons or democrats are acting insane. What part of ILLEGAL ALIEN do they not understand? I realize they prefer to call them undocumented workers, but that does not change the truth of the matter. I believe that AG Sessions should find some way to arrest and charge these scoundrels that are going against the US Constitution. In my mind it is treason, plain and simple. nuff said God Bless Plowboy

The departure of rational thought (well, I could not figure out what he was saying)
OK, so sanctuary cities are some sort of anarchic movement because they violate federal law. How about the anti-abortion laws in states like Texas that violate federal law that says states cannot limit access to abortion? Are those also anarchic? And how about the civil rights movement? Charlie talks about the civil rights movement as if it was something imposed on states by the federal government. Was that really an outgrowth of efforts to enforce federal law or was it a woman sitting in the wrong seat on a packed bus violating a law that made no sense to her? The Civil Rights Act of 1964 made it illegal to discriminate but it was the sit-ins and protests that helped put that law in place. It was civil disobedience that forced the federal government to act. It was a willingness to openly violate laws that brought about changes to those laws. Charlie is condemning what he says is anarchy as relates to illegal immigrants and praising it as regards civil rights. Does that make any sense? Was the effort to end discrimination at the polling places an effort by liberals to expand their voting base? Or were they doing what they thought was right?

Departure of rational thought
Hi Charlie! I’ve been following your posts on Twitter for quite a while. They are always great... very common sense! This is an excellent article!!! You nailed it. When are you going to run for office? If you’re ever coming to Austin I want to jam with you and talk politics! God Bless you, Sir! Dave Goodin (Aka The Texas Shredder)

Did you know?
I heard today that illegals are counted by the census bureau every 10 years during the census. One of the reasons for the census is for the distribution of congressional seats. If illegals were not counted in California that state would lose approximately 6 seats in congress. There is supposedly a bill in congress to repeal the law that made the counting of illegals possible. Bet you it doesn't get much traction.

No show at grang old Opry
Understand? You were sick? I came all the way to Nashville from Cincinnati Ohio, to go to the Grand Old Opry and see you. Not a huge fan of country but I love you CAD babe. I’m in the show can’t wait for you to perform after the first performer, they tell me you were sick. Now I have all my own Business for 35 years. I was never sick wants. I’m really really really disappointed sir. I’m hoping when you are going to re-up… For your supposedly I believe 40th something or other award that the MC was talking about… That you might feel in your heart to send me and my Nancy a couple tickets. My name is William Strady please feel free to call me 937 6094699 My email is [email protected] love to hear from you soon been listening to you since 1968 but not tonight. *NOTE* Charlie has been fighting the flu or some type of crud for the past two weeks, he canceled a show two weeks ago and an Opry performance last week, hoping to get better and even did three performances this past weekend which were rough on a man who will be 82 in October. Not only did he cancel the Opry, he canceled a book signing and rescheduled three upcoming shows so he could rest and recover. He wasn't able to rest because he was trying to push through the illness and would hopefully get feeling better while still performing, but he hasn't been able to shake it. There has been something going around which has affected several members of the CDB family, including his business manager, housekeeper, his bus driver and his wife, Hazel. Not to mention he does meet and greets every night at his shows and is very susceptible to picking up germs there as well. I'm sorry that you drove all this way to see him, but he has been instructed to get rested up, The bulk of his touring season is just beginning, and we don't want him collapsing on stage because he's unable to shake his sickness. - TeamCDB

US Census
Here is the passage from the US Constitution mandating a census. If there is any reference to immigration status, I did not see it.: Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.2 The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.

Good Health
It seems to me that Charlie always goes the extra mile to keep his fans happy. That should not involve him putting his health at risk.
