Impressions of the State of the Union Address

President Trump's first State of the Union address was actually boycotted by members of Congress and, "frowned on" by many others (pun intended).

"But seriously folks," I listened and watched as the president walked through his agenda and list of accomplishments step-by-step, in a way that could be understood by all of us rank and file Americans.

To deny that the economy is doing great is a fallacy and to give an equal amount of credit to Obama for it, an even bigger one, since things didn't start popping until after he was gone from office and the companies didn't start handing out bonuses and hiring new workers, raising salaries and committing to expansion until the Trump tax cuts were announced.

The fact that ISIS has been decimated and driven out of a large part of their "Caliphate" has barely been reported by the media, but the fact is that it has been and the offensive against them continues to be effective.

As far as the Democrats not responding to the president's remarks about great economic news and other political accomplishments, I can understand, even though Nancy Pelosi looked as if she was in bad need of an enema while sitting in a dentist's office waiting on a root canal.

But to show so little reaction for the parents of children murdered by MS-13, a police officer who had rescued and adopted the baby of a heroin addicted mother, a military hero who had saved the lives of his fellow soldiers, a North Korean refugee who had escaped the unimaginable horror of the most inhumane regime on earth and a 12-year-old boy who had taken it upon himself to raise money to put flags on the graves of veterans, is, at least to me, not a sign of disrespect for a president, but a sign of disrespect for all that is best about America.

The Congressional Black Caucus sat on their hands when the president announced that African-American unemployment was at an all-time low and a Democratic Congressman got up and basically ran out of the chamber when a spontaneous patriotic chant of "USA" began.

I don't claim allegiance to either political party, although I will admit that the Republican Party is more closely aligned with my convictions - most of the time - although a lot of the time, neither party is aligned closely enough.

I vote for the person, not the party, I couldn't care less about the "R" or "D" beside the candidate's name and vote a split ticket when I feel obliged to, especially in state and local races.

I am an American, I believe, not in politicians, as I have never known of one who didn't disappoint me from time to time, but in the way, the dream, and the philosophy that America was founded on.

That all men are created equal, that there should be a level playing field for all, that there should be no double standards where the connected get off light and the ordinary citizens go to jail.

I believe in obeying the law, and that if the majority of the nation feels that one is unjust they should demand that their representatives change it, but to go ahead and break a law that is still in force like the sanctuary cities do, is anarchy.

Democrats and Republicans, politicians and citizens have to decide if they will declare themselves Americans First or follow the path of blind ideology down the path to oblivion.

There is a move afoot to disavow our loyalty to the flag, the national anthem, American exceptionalism, America's history and time-honored traditions.

Although America faces many dangerous and determined enemies who would like nothing better than our complete destruction, our most dangerous enemy is within our borders and within our power to defeat.

The enemy is division and the truth and depth of our dilemma could be no more starkly demonstrated than it was in the House Chamber during the State of The Union Address.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, our police and the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

Why would anyone write something that vicious? What was the point?

Mr Daniels, I have been a huge fan and a decimated reader of your Soapboxes for years. I couldn't possibly agree with you more. I'm not a republican, not a Democrat... If anything, I'm a Constitutional Originality Christian Conservative... Seeing what our country has become over-the-counter past 15-20 yrs has been very disheartening. I'm a form Bible believer and follower of the Way of Jesus Christ. I feel very strongly that we have been heading like a runaway train, towards the end times. It's just too obvious to me. I pray that more people come to Christ before that time kicks in, so they can be spared the Tribulation. But I don't hold out a lot of hope. Things have degraded so far that it just seems so lost. Please say a prayer for my children, whom I have been unable to reach. I pray for you and all of your listeners that you be safe and filled with the Spirit of the Lord. That you are all able to bring many followers to Christ. I know that's not ur job. But you are very effective Mr Daniels. Never doubt that. Marise

Unbelievable
Amen, Amen & Amen Charlie, as a whole the Democrats showed their true colors Tuesday night and I did not like what I saw out of them on bit. They are no different the the NFL players who disrespect the National Anthem, Pelosi calls thousands of dollars crumbs, maybe because she is worth in excess of 25 million, but I will take I the crumbs I can get. These players have multi million contracts and have forgotten who pays them. God said in Act 2:17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. I guess that makes me an old man because I am a dreamer too. It would be hard to be a member of the Capitol Police and maybe have to lay down your life defending some of these traitors. nuff said God Bless Plowboy

State of the Union address
Very well stated Mr. Daniels The actions of many of the members in Congress were treasonous!! They were in violation of the allegiance owed to their country as declared in our Constitution!! They acted more like enemies, instead of Patriots of the United States of America!! I believe there is punishment(and should be) for their actions, also declared in our Constitution.

Mr. Charlie Daniel's on SOTU
Thank you for your words Mr. Charlie Daniels. You have just written everything I feel in my heart. My parents taught me morals and values and most of all about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Son of GOD. The world including America is a scary place right now. GOD is in control and HE has written a letter, the Bible, that tells us step by step of what will take place in this world before HIS Son returns. As my 13 year old son reminds me there are more events that has to take place before our Lord returns. We are in the count down. I believe we are in the fifth trump, fifth vial and fifth seal out of the seven that will occure. I Pray that all people will come to know the Lord so they may have eternal life. I Pray for America and Isreal as well. Thank you again for stating common sense and hopefully opening the eyes of some who do not see the corruption that is going on around them.

Nancy Pelosi
Perfect description of the look on Pelosi's face Charlie, as for the comment about what was the point, there was no point. It was a described as a look on her face which was right on point, those people would had done more good staying home so the viewers didn't have to look upon their smug-ugly faces.

I’m a 3 rd generation Kansas farmer I don’t know what a 40 hr work week is but I’m through that by Tuesday if I ever count my work hrs but it looks to me like the Democrats don’t want the working class people to have the basic security’s Luke enough money to last the whole month affordable prescriptions & above all having to watch all our hard earned tax dollars be wasted by all of there agendas

You are right. Politics has become simply an excuse for trying to hurt other people without reason or purpose. There is no purpose except to show our lack of manners and values.

I could not agree more. I love this great country of ours. God has used it to bless and protect the world. To see democratic leaders acting like three year olds was disgusting. Folks need to vote them out. Obama made me nauseous, but I prayed for him. Pray for our leaders. Pray for our country. GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸❤️

Disrespectful Democrats
I am a 22-year, 100 percent disabled Air Force veteran of two wars. Watching the Democrats disrespect the president and his message during the State of the Union address was so very disheartening to me. The Democrats remind me of the Russians who are almost always against the United States at every turn. If there was any doubt about the true deplorables, there is no longer.

Thank you for writing what I feel also. I am so tired of all this hate and lack of respect for our laws. It's just insane!

Having only two monopolizing political parties is the worst thing to ever happen. Politicians are wolves among the flock ,but we must take the blame because we are supposed to elect people from our communities such as farmers, teachers, bus drivers etc and not bankers, lawyers and billionaires. The economy is not doing great. The greatest economy was grown from 1945-1985 and that is the measuring stick of great. The tax cuts will take awhile, but do the same thing they have always done when designed for the rich, leave the poor in a wasteland.

State of the union
I agree with you Charlie. The way the Democrats acted at the State of Union speech was very unamerican. When will people realize that they can get more good done by working together, instead of acting like a bunch of two year olds with their dippers needing changed.

Thank you charlie
It takes a courageous man to speak the inconvenient truths with today's repressive focus on political correctness. How can we have a nuclear family with a the gender identity confusion? Bruce Jenner glorified for his courage and soldiers protecting our freedom and security, are viewed as evil oppressors. Islamaphobia is seen as an evil to be vanquished. And yet most fail to realize this is a religion and ideology that must be feared. It's basic tenets are about the destruction or subjugation on infidels and non believers. The same people who are so vocal about protecting human rights support nations and ideologies that do not believe or respect the rights of women or non believers of the perverted religiion.
