Big Government, Perception and Reticence

I have had my run-ins over the years with the Internal Revenue Service, and profess no love at all for the outfit, but I never in my life would have imagined that they would go rogue and pull the illegal stunts that Lois Lerner and company are guilty of.

I come from a day when J. Edgar Hoover and the FBI were national heroes and even though Mr. Hoover's star has been somewhat tarnished over the years, the FBI has, for the most part, maintained a standard of efficiency and honor, but that has all come crashing down over the past year as evidence of collusion, political partiality and high-level corruption have surfaced.

The rot is at the top, in the uppermost echelons of power and blame should not be extended to the rank and file who still do their jobs and have to be ashamed of their superiors who have sullied the good reputation of the agencies.

The debacle in Benghazi, where four Americans died and the president and secretary of state denied that a rescue could be mounted in 13 hours, tipped off the hand of an administration that was completely lost when it came to playing in the real world.

Every president since Harry Truman has known that North Korea was an international loose cannon, that they let their people starve while they used their resources to build their military power, the logical conclusion, that they would one day control weapons of mass destruction, yet they were placated and back-burnered by Democrats and Republicans until now, and due to their totally unpredictable leadership, they are the most dangerous, out of control nuclear menace on the planet.

We have known for the last half century that our southern border was as porous as a cheap sponge, that thousands of illegals, we didn't know who, how many, their intentions, what diseases, drugs or weapons they carried were coming and if they planned on staying.

Yet Democrats and Republicans have basically turned a blind eye to the problems our careless immigration system was causing for the blue-collar and minority workforces, rather favoring their major donors who wanted a pool of cheap non-competitive labor, and in some cases salivating over the number of new votes naturalized citizens could provide.

The fact that Iran is and has been the biggest exporter of terrorism on the planet has been well known for decades, yet both parties have elected to let the situation grow and fester, and in Obama's case to, wittingly or unwittingly, aid them by pulling them back from the brink of national bankruptcy by lifting sanctions and infusing their empty coffers with a planeload of cash.

There are enclaves of crime in some of our inner cities where hard working, tax paying citizens are afraid to walk the streets or send their children to school for fear of becoming another murder statistics.

Yet, the political powers that be refuse to do anything meaningful about it, condemning those citizens to a life of fear and isolation, hoping against hope that the situation will not completely explode on their watch so they can collect their generous benefits and retire to their safe suburban homes.

These and a myriad of other cans have been kicked down the road by local, state and national politicians and now they are rolling up against the implacable wall of reality and have to be dealt with as sound bite hungry politicians rush before the TV cameras with Band-Aid solutions and cosmetic proposals, none of which takes the well-being of the majority of American citizens into consideration.

Passing a federal budget for three weeks is just a weak confession of impotence by a bunch of burnt out old mossbacks that should have gone home years ago.

Even the language has turned from "What's good for the nation" to "What's good for the party"

I get incensed when I hear that "The Democrats don't really want a DACA deal, they want to save the issue to use in the midterms" or "The Republicans are afraid of approving the issue for fear it will hurt their chances in 2020"

Well, you know what? To hell with your midterms and to perdition with your 2020!

WHAT ABOUT WHATS GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY?!!

They need to go, all the power brokers and deal makers, the greedy empty suits who put party above patriotism, the ones who long ago lost sight of why they were elected and corrupt even the starry-eyed young people who come to make changes.

Big government is a failure, it is repetitive, expensive and cannot be managed effectively, it has continuously refused to deal with dangerous issues in a timely fashion and soon those chickens will be coming home to roost, and with the bunch we've got representing us, God help us.

We need action.

We need change.

We need new faces, new ideas, new commitment, new energy, new ethics and a new body of dedicated congressmen and senators, state and local officials, who will bind themselves to actually do what those entities were designed for in the first place.

To faithfully serve the best interests of the people of the United States of America.

Political parties be damned!

You will never drain the swamp without term limits.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, our police, and the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

Big Government
Charlie, you just said what a lot of us feel. I feel so helpless. I get on my representative and Senators, but you are right. They don’t listen. If others out there have any suggestions on how to make some of these changes, please share them. God bless you Charlie

The only thing rotten is indeed at the very top
Back in the 60s, the Sierra Club lost its tax exempt status because they went into politics. They did it to stop the federal government from damming the Grand Canyon. They took their medicine. To listen to the Tea Party folks pretend they have nothing to do with politics and deserve tax-exempt status is just this side of nonsensical. Make them pay their fair share. Up until the time Trump walked in, people respected the FBI. When they did what Trump wanted, he praised them as well. Now, he is happy to drag them through the mud to protect his own sorry reputation. Anyone remember The Naked Communist? Here is goal 35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI. Looks like we are heading in that direction thanks to the far right.

Trickle Down Leadership
Amen, Amen & Amen Charlie you are correct in all that you have written here, We have known for years that good leadership at the top filters down throughout an organization, be it the Feds, the CDB, or any corporation With Barack Hussein Obama we saw bad leadership from a closet Muslim and sodomite drop like a lead balloon. For instance we never heard of the Secret Service having agents being drunk on the job or visiting prostitutes until Obama became their leader. The FBI undoubtedly had a few bad apples in their ranks over the years, but they were weeded out, not encouraged and promoted as under Obama. The same for the US Military, many great leaders left under Obama but Trump put Mad Dog Mattis in charge and we got real change, the kind that you can take to the bank.We must drain the swamp, we must seal up or boarders, we must take out North Korea just as Israel must take out Iran, I thank God that He gave us Donald Trump, a man with enough intestinal fortitude to damn the torpedoes full speed ahead, let the climate changers cling to their trees, we will cling to our guns. Let the naysayers of the news media keep regurgitating the same garbage, the working men and women of this great country are seeing the light and more money in their pocket, we just need to keep on keeping on. nuff said God Bless Plowboy

Big Government Soap Box
Mr. Charlie, first off thank you for your bravery to say what needs to be said. I am a 24 year retired (not from the civilian work force though) US Navy Chief Petty Officer. I watched a special on you many, many years ago and I swore then that I would say what needed be said without any sugar coating. Yes there needs to be terms and I say only four years. After that they become complicit (I think correct word), fat, greedy and separate from the people. When I see one party working against another party only because of who the POTUS is, it shows that they don't give a crap about the people who put that fat paycheck and healthy retirement for life onto their laps. When folks start accepting that there is fake or rather partially reported news, then full truths can be known. I am Republican because I believe that we Americans can provide for ourselves except for a hard spell and not make a living off of government programs. I appreciate Trump in that he is a new and unexpected face and he is making changes. I just searched the net on Dems and illegal immigration and found Bill in 95, Hillary in 93, 95, 96 and years after and Obama speaking on this topic. Guess what, they said the exact words that Trump is now saying and voted on a 700 mile "Fence" but, he is a racist because he wants a "Wall". If he was weak I guess he'd change his to "Fence". In America but, let the Eagle fly fast and high now.

Rejecting Party Loyalty
I'm convinced that political parties are good for absolutely nothing but narrowing down the number of candidates for the general election down to two, so someone gets more than just the most votes, but more than half. On principle, both parties should be completely void of party platform, with party members having no loyalty with each other. Individual candidates and issues are what's important, not parties and ideologies. -- Tru Cola
