From the Mountains to the Prairies

I consider myself most blessed to have been to practically every corner, every nook and cranny of this land we call the United States of America.

When I think about America I think about the Rockies, the Smokies, the Mighty Mississippi coursing through the heartland and the little La Plata trickling through the mountain passes of beautiful Colorado.

The nation that spans a continent, boasts mountains, deserts, glaciers, mighty rivers and redwood forests, the nation that fought for and won its independence, that endured a Civil War that conquered killer diseases and took technology to a height that could only be dreamed about a few short decades ago.

The nation that is unequaled among the nations of the earth with more opportunities, more freedoms, more diverse terrain, more dreams to pursue, more independence and more individual rights than any other place on earth.

A land where liberty is your birthright and a shot at being exceptional is yours to grasp, the land of the overnight millionaire, where, if youve got what it takes, you can walk among the giants.

Where do unto others as you would have others do unto you is still practiced in the small towns and back roads of fly over country where church bells still summon the faithful to worship on Sunday morning.

The strength of America is not reckoned by the do nothing debating societies on Capitol Hill, nor even the resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It cannot be measured by the assets of the banks or the size of its corporations.

The strength, the greatness, the tenacity of America can only be determined by her people, the ones who plow the fields, pilot the 18 wheelers, man the assembly lines, build, repair, protect and serve, defend and cherish.

The people who make up the majority of the population, known as the common folks, blue collar, white collar, black, white, brown with different ethnic backgrounds, different religious beliefs, different heritages, diverse political persuasions, but all still proud to come together under the one banner and thankful to be known as simply Americans.

There is a concerted movement afoot by a confederation of politicians, billionaires, power brokers and some powerful media outlets to tear this nation apart, to remake it in the image of all the other failed socialist societies, to have a monolithic central government that would control everything from, if you are even allowed to be born, to the time you die, playing God, the most dangerous game of all.

These people, and with good reason after the Obama years, began to think that they are the greatness of America, that they are wiser and more capable of telling people how they should and must live, that the Constitution is just a list of suggestions to be ignored at the whim of the politically connected and the ultra-powerful.

They forgot the people who make this nation tick, that no matter how much money you have or how much power you think you have, without the rank and file citizens who manually turn the wheels of commerce and progress, money buys nothing and power falls flat.

It cost them an election.

They will not give up, theyre still out there trying to tear down our nation and remake it into a godless, secular country without human compassion, condoning the wholesale slaughter of the unborn and allowing the unproductive aged to die, to destroy the second amendment, interfere with religious doctrine and take away the personal freedoms Americans cherish.

But they forget, were still out here too, the Cajun in South Louisiana who is not going to let anybody tell him how to live, the fishermen who fight the angry seas and are not afraid of anything man can throw at him, the cowboys and cattlemen, the factory workers, the truck drivers, the farmers, the common people, who will not give up their America, our America.
Our home.

As we celebrate the two hundred and forty first birthday of the greatest nation the world has ever known let us, first of all be thankful to our God and Creator for allowing us to live in this blessed land.

Secondly, let us honor the memory of those who gave their lives to keep our beloved America free.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, our police and the peace of Jerusalem.

God Bless America

Happy 4th of July!
Charlies' comments on his July 4th soapbox are spot on. I think that he captured the real America that lies beneath all the gibberish spewed at us in the media. It's the heart and the people of the USA that will always make America great. Thanks for your music, your patriotism, and most of all your good heart Charlie. God Bless you, the CDB, and God Bless America!

Make America Great Again
There is a concerted movement afoot by a confederation of politicians, billionaires, power brokers and some powerful media outlets to tear this nation apart. Yet, in spite of the Republican Party, Donald Trump, his wealthy backers, Breitbart News, Fox News, Newsmax, The Enquirer, Worldnetdaily, Rush Limbaugh, Alex Jones, and the rest, we will return this country to its part. Donald Trump may brag about wanting to hurt people but we should not forget that he refused military service, avoided the draft, and only hurts people in the make-believe world of professional wrestling. The rest of us see him for what he is. We would prefer that you figure it out before we have to dig ourselves out from under a disaster.

Charlie, Not sure if you knew about the passing of our good friend Steve. He was a photographer, journalist, Gentleman and so much more. He loved you and the band and when he came back from a visit all he could talk about for a month was how good a person you were and how much fun he had hanging out with you. This may not be the right place to tell you but I wanted to get the word to you. Take care, Jeff Jacobsen ps He was one of my best friends!

CDB's soap box
Everything you say is true. I read it all and it brought a tough feeling of pride to my heart and a tear to my eye. I am glad to see I am not the only one who sees what is really going on and has faith in the Spirit of America shining through in all areas. God bless America and her warriors. And as always keep making that awesome music you make... God bless you too.

AMEN
Charlie, most elegantly said and so exactly right. I wish everyone in this country could read this with an open mind and open heart if they did perhaps we could once again become a country where we could have civil discourse, treat each other with respect again regardless of our political differences, the America I've lived in my whole life.

Just the facts
Chuck Schumer's father ran an exterminating business. Trump's father ran a million dollar real estate business. Schumer worked hard in high school, was valedictorian, got a perfect score on the SATs, went to Harvard, and graduated from Harvard Law School with honors. Trump punched his music teacher when he was in school, got into a good college because his older brother knew an admissions counselor and asked for a favor, claims he was valedictorian but will not release his college transcripts. Schumer decided to enter public service. He rose to prominence, finally winning election as senator. Trump inherited his father's business, went through multiple bankruptcies, was caught in multiple crooked dealings, and finally rose to prominence as a game show host. Schumer won reelection with over 70% of the vote. Trump lied about a sitting President. Schumer has been married to the same woman for years. Trump has gone through multiple divorces and very public affairs. He brags about molesting women. Schumer serves at the will of the people. Trump is a game show host with a fleet of private jets. Guess which one Charlie thinks is a man of the people?

Let Freedom Ring
Amen,Amen how wonderful it is to see a true American talking true beliefs. I am so tired of our world being turned upside down with such unexplained violence. They removed God and prayer and it made it worse... This Land Is Your Land ,This Land Is My Land. Let's come together and love one another. It makes me so sad, especially for my children. no you so very much for writing this it's terrific. God Bless.
