Soap Box Archives Three Branches When the founders of this nation set down the parameters of the federal government they created three branches, the executive, the legislative and the judicial. Its as obvious as the nose on your face why they established it in this way. The three branches are designed to, first of all, protect and represent the people of this nation and to maintain checks and balances on each other. The three parts were never meant to be a rubber stamp or force their personal political ideologies on the rest of us. The House of Representatives is designed to represent the population of the country while the Senate has nothing to do with population, only statehood with two senators for each state. The president is supposed to establish foreign policy, to present Americas public face to the world, to be a diplomat, a warrior, a benefactor and above all a strong leader and fierce protector of all things American, the keeper of the flame of freedom and the American dream as it were. The judicial branch is supposed to ride herd on the other two branches of government and settle any argument that involves the Constitution. They should never, ever all be of one political persuasion and never ideologues. A Supreme Court Justice is supposed to put aside their personal convictions when they go against the Constitution, which is not a document to be misinterpreted or changed by anyone or anything less that a public vote by a majority of the states or super majority of Congress When one party rules the executive and legislative branches and the president is able to get the Senate to confirm judges, not because of their adherence to the Constitution, but because they share his political beliefs we are no longer a republic but a dictatorship. The president and the Congress would vehemently deny the recent economic moves theyve made are an attempt to move America toward socialism or dictatorship, but how else can what theyve done be described. The first move of a socialistic dictatorship is to nationalize industry. What has happened to Americas automotive industry under Obama? Watch out for the word regulate as it only denotes government interference in the business affairs of this nation. They have no respect for the wishes of the majority, making laws and passing legislation that the majority of the citizens are against, like the health care legislation that was forced through by a sell out Congress despite popular opinion against it. This fall it is said that the Democrats will suffer dramatic losses in the House and possibly the Senate. I dont know if this is going to happen or not but one thing I do know, even if the Democrats are badly defeated in November, they will still have a month left on their tenure and such is their character, or lack of, that they will use the remaining weeks in office to pass every pie in the sky, socialistic piece of tripe legislation theyve ever dreamed of. And who knows if the Republicans have the cajones to repeal all this nonsense and get the country back on track. They sure didnt prove it the last time they were in power. I consistently marvel at the people in this country who continue to defend Obama or who blame all his blunders on the previous administration. Its hard for me to believe that there are people out there that cant or wont understand whats happening here. I never expect too much out of a politician but the levels most of our Congress and Senate have sunk to surprises even a political cynic like me. In my book they are guilty of violating their codes of office, dereliction of duty and grand larceny. They are dishonorable people and will have to live with the things theyve done to this country. But the problem is that the rest of us will have to live with them too. The three branches of government are supposed to flow out of one river, but the way things are going, one river is going to flow out of the three branches. Thats just political incest. What do you think? Pray for our troops, and for our country. God Bless America Charlie Daniels |
