Let The Light Shine Down

Did you ever notice the guy who talks real fast on the end of commercials? In fact he talks so fast you only catch a word here and there and really don't have a good idea of what he's trying, or not trying, to tell you.

You catch a phrase like, "restrictions apply," or some such arcane string of words but you don't know what they apply to or for how long.

Now you have to admit that it's a cute trick being able to talk that fast, but did you ever stop and think why he does it? Could it be that the company being advertised wants to be able to say they made the disclaimers but they really didn't want you to understand them, lest it would inhibit you from buying their product?

Do you ever read the nutritional information on a package of high calorie food? Instead of coming right out and telling you that if you eat over a spoonful of this product you're going to get fat, they make you decipher all kind of statistics and solve a math problem before you know how many calories you're about to ingest.

And how about the "sell by" date you have to turn the product over and over and upside down and sometimes need a magnifying glass to find out if the product is fresh or not.

The Internal Revenue Service makes their forms so convoluted and indecipherable that it becomes impossible for somebody without a degree in accounting to understand them.

Politicians hide the contents of their legislation from the public showing us only the tip of the iceberg and intentionally underestimating or lying about what it's going to cost in tax dollars.

The devil is always in the details and the details are hard to come by these days.

John said that Jesus was the Light that came into the world and that the world didn't want to be exposed to the light, so its sins would remain hidden.

We need a lot of light in the world today.

We need light in the business world. Anybody who buys a product should know its faults as well as its virtues. If a gas pedal is apt to stick they should be told about it, if a product could be harmful to you, the fact should be printed on the label in language so plain that a second grader would be able to understand it.

Our personal income tax returns should be simplified so ordinary citizens can understand and process them without having to resort to expensive firms.

Congress does not need two thousand pages of tripe and lawyer language to keep the truth of their treachery away from the people who pay their salaries.

But one thing they can't hide from us; the congress, with the exception of a very few good men and women, are a bunch of conniving, thieving, self-serving, lying, cheating and often lecherous also-rans who know their only way of holding on to power is by deceiving the public.

It's time for things to change.

Let the light shine down.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country

God Bless America
