Christmas Is

I used to wish people "Happy Holidays" once in a while until the ACLU and various and sundry godless organizations took it upon themselves to take Christ out of Christmas, now it's nothing less than "Merry Christmas" for me.

This argument about the symbols of Christmas being displayed in public is totally silly. Let's just dissect the word. C-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s. Look at the first five letters, what do they spell? Christ.

That's the name of the holiday and calling it anything else, or denying it's meaning is rank hypocrisy.

The American Civil Liberties Union's stance on Christmas has little to do with religion and everything to do with stamping God and Jesus Christ out of American public life.

They really don't care about any other public displays of faith by anybody but Christians.

They claim that the trappings of Christmas upsets the atheists they represent and that just doesn't hold water. Why can't they just ignore the public symbols of Christmas? It's an easy thing to do. If I brought a lawsuit every time I saw something in public that offended me I would live in a courtroom.

People taking God's name in vain offend me, but it's all around me, in movies, on TV and on the street.

It's not the nativity scenes that bother these people but what the nativity scenes represent, the world-changing event that took place in the City of David some two thousand years ago.

And let me tell you something fellows, if Jesus' Father is powerful enough to move a star over a barn in Bethlehem in honor of the birth of His Son, if He can send multitudes of angels to announce it, don't you think you're playing with fire when you try to dishonor Him?

Do you honestly think that your paltry efforts will do anything but ignite the flame that lives in the hearts of men when you show such gross disrespect for their Lord and Savior?

What you're doing is nothing new. Powerful nations have tried for centuries to stamp out the name of Christ. They've closed churches and persecuted Christians and still Christ's followers refuse to yield.

You see, you don't come anywhere near representing the majority of this nation. You may sway a few weak, gutless politicians and left-wing judges, but you can't change what we feel inside.

I know your consider yourselves to be the enlightened ones but you're not. Actually, you're to be pitied. You're nothing more than a poor bunch of the blind leading the blind and you're all going to end up in the ditch, and the ditch is deeper than anything you can imagine.

I know you've pleaded and won cases in the Supreme Court of The United States but someday, whether you believe it or not we're all going to face God and explain our deeds on earth, and you're going to get a chance to plead your case in the court of the universe in the presence of that very Jesus you try so hard to discredit.

Kind of unnerving isn't it?

So, ACLU, I wish you, not Happy Holidays, not Season's Greetings, not Happy Kwanza, nor any of the rest of that silly secular tripe, but Merry Christmas!

And as Tiny Tim observed, "God bless us, everyone."

Even the ACLU.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country.

God Bless America.
