Food for Thought I am not much of a conspiracy buff and have not subscribed to many, some may have some validity and some are just silly ideas dreamed up by silly people. Probably the most perplexing and well known of the modern day conspiracy theories is the ones surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and I must admit I still have mixed feelings about that one. Of course we all know about the "Elvis is alive and living in the Midwest" craziness, Louis Farrakhan's delusions about the government blowing up the levees in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and people like Jeremiah Wright who claim that the government is spreading AIDS among the black population. Most of those get few lines of press and are quickly thrown on the scrap pile of historical junk, however there are others that have been around for centuries. You have to wonder, if there's that much smoke, is there not some fire somewhere? One of the oldest and most persistent conspiracy theories in existence concerns a shadowy group called The Illuminati, or "The Enlightened Ones". I won't go in to their history except to tell you that you can readily find out all you need to know by doing a little research. It is an ancient organization that supposedly dates from the era of The Knights Templar. The theory is that through this group and it's offshoots, they control worldwide banking, heavy industry and politics. Supposedly, they call the shots for the rest of the world. Now this sounds extremely far fetched and naive until you consider a group called the Council on Foreign Relations, and you can also find out all you want to about them on the internet also, including their own website. That is all they're willing to expose to the public. The roster of members of this organization, at least those names that are obtainable, reads like a planet wide list of who's who. Some of the richest and most influential people from all over the world belong to it. There are also plenty of conspiracy theories on the web for you to read to make your own evaluation of the issue. Most of our presidents for at least the last many decades, the heavy-duty bankers of the world, world political leaders and the movers and shakers from every corner of the planet are among the Council's membership. There's not much public knowledge, other than the cursory, obligatory unimportant information that basically admits that they exist, and it is rumored that when they have a convention, it's usually in a fairly secluded hotel and that the building is surrounded by white noise which prevents any electronic eavesdropping. Again, I'm not wearing a tin foil hat while I'm writing this; I'm just examining some possibilities. You may wonder why I am rambling on so, well I have a very specific reason for bringing all this up and it will be apparent soon. Now just imagine the richest and most important people in the world sitting together in a meeting where no minutes are made public and nobody but the people in the room will ever know what is said, the policy that is decided on or the ramifications of their actions on the people of the world. The group could plan wars, recessions, manipulate the stock market and The Fed, set policy for whole governments and favor or disfavor those who suit or don't suit their purposes. Now this is all pretty wild and I never really gave it much credence until a thought popped into my head and just will not go away. Why does the United States of America sit here with our national cajones in the hands of people who hate us? Why after all these decades of knowing better are we still depending on the Middle East for oil, the lifeblood of our nation? Why does every president make bold promises about pursuing alternative energy and after he has won restrict his promises to some pie-in-the-sky windmill farms and conservation? What happened to the fuel cells? Why is America not opening up our capped oil wells and drilling new ones? What happened to developing the technology to extract petroleum from the plentiful shale deposits we have in western America? Where has the idea for making ethanol from switchgrass instead of corn gone? Why is America not building nuclear power plants? If America started an all out plan to drill new oil wells and extract oil from shale; that alone would cause the world's oil prices to stall. Add to that the addition of several new nuclear power plants around the country and just the threat of America becoming even partially energy independent would start the prices of raw petroleum on a downward spiral, after all, there is absolutely nothing but sand and oil in the Middle East and if they can't sell as much oil as they can produce they are in big trouble. Why do presidents make these glorious statements about reducing our dependence on Middle Eastern oil, then when they get in office put it so far on the back burner that the heat is cut off? All we hear about drilling for our own resources or building nuclear power plants is that they are blocked by the environmental movement and that's what got me to thinking in this direction. What if the greens are being used as a scapegoat in a much larger cause, a cause motivated by greed? I want to clearly stress this point. I am not making accusations, only suppositions, so please don't give me credit for starting another conspiracy, I'm only saying what if. So what if there really is an international cartel which controls, the banking, the politics, the heavy industry, the media and the major policy making around the world? What better way to control the greatest economic and military power on Earth than being able to squeeze the life out of it by controlling the flow of oil? This school thought could branch into a hundred different directions but for now let's just deal with the energy part. I have never understood why so much power is ascribed to the environmental movement when it comes to American production of crude oil. When three quarters of America are in favor of drilling, how can a handful of Greenpeace, Sierra Club or any other organization be able to stymie the will of the American people? Look at the bunch of international crazies who show up every time the World Bank people come to town. They're downright violent radicals and they don't affect policy one iota. They just break windows, get arrested and move on to their next target. Would it not be super convenient and sound very noble for world governments to say they do this or that for environmental reasons when they're really doing it for profit and power. President Obama has told the world that Iran has a right to build nuclear energy plants, but why not the United States of America? We've already got the material and the resources to build enough nuclear plants to take the sting out of oil prices. And who profits from the global warming hoax? Of course it's the people who can scare the daylights out of us and sell us on such as foolishness as cap and trade and all the other nonsense that's going to move manufacturers out of this country and put a lot more out of business. And who would profit by America losing her place as world leader, why the people who are trying to engineer a global government. Just think, when there is national pride and patriotism, the world is split up into sovereign nations, as it should be, the people in those nations will always find a way to have a say in it's policies. They will not settle for being ruled by some monolithic government in some foreign city. But if all the world had only one government it would be ruled by a few elitists and would be nothing but a dictatorship, pure and simple. If God had not wanted us to be divided into different nations why would he have given the people at the Tower of Babel different languages. Something is going on out there folks, I'm not saying that this is it, but it certainly bears watching. What do you think? Pray for our troops, and for our country God Bless America Charlie Daniels
