Soap Box Archives Fiscal Fantasy The national debt is approaching thirteen trillion dollars, stop and think about it people. Thirteen trillion dollars, and the President and Congress are showing no signs of letting up. Instead of putting money into the economy, they are taking it out and making it next to impossible for anybody to borrow any money, it's just not available because the government has borrowed it all. In my humble opinion, in the very near future you will see interest rates start climbing and could be well into double digits within a couple of years. Again, in my humble opinion, inflation will start to grow at a rate we haven't seen in this country since the seventies, except this time I seriously doubt if it will stop at the marks it reached back then. The way this economy is being raped by the President and Congress, there will be no stops in place to keep inflation from eroding the wealth of America in a catastrophic fashion. We are some thirteen trillion dollars in debt and Obama wants to implement his government run health care plan which will add no telling how many more trillions to the debt. From the tone of some of the emails I get on this column I can tell there are people out there who have been so Obamacized they either don't know or don't want to know what's happening to this nation. What I'm saying is not about politics. It's not about Democrats or Republicans because to tell you the truth I don't have a lot of use for either party. It's not about conservative or liberal, it's simply about the land I love with all my heart and what I see happening to it. Even the most hardcore Obama supporters out there, if they're honest with themselves, have to admit that nothing Obama has done has worked, and that he has mortgaged the future of this country by spending more money in seven months than all the U.S. Presidents before him put together. It would be bad enough if America had this money, but the sad fact is that we don't. We are printing it and borrowing it, which is a dangerous proposition and will, if continued, bring America to her fiscal knees. Back before the election I wrote a piece where I said that I was afraid Obama would break things so badly we'd never be able to fix them again, in my opinion, if this doesn't change in the very near future, we are there. There is no way America can sustain the kind of spending President Obama and Congress are doing right now. It's like trying to borrow money from the guy who comes to repossess your car. The scary thing is that the Democrats have total control of our future, they don't even need Republicans to pass whatever they want to and the only thing America can do is vote them out of office. The problem with that is that even if they were voted out of office next year it will be after the fact. They have already done inestimable damage to the economy; damage that it will take decides to repair, if such a thing is even possible. You people out there who voted for Obama because he said he'd tax the rich and only the rich, you've been lied to. There are two things for dead certain. 1. There is no way to even service the interest on this ridiculous debt without massive tax hikes, and will basically result in the indentured servitude for future generations to our national debt. 2. Even if the government took every cent from the richest people in the country -instead of just raising their taxes- it would not pay off this kind of debt. So get ready middle class, get ready everybody, you're going to be taxed. It may not be an income tax but someway, somehow every person in America is going to pay for this Democrat utopia they're trying to create. Barack Obama stood in front of a joint session of Congress the other night and told lie after lie about his health care proposal. They may not be called "death panels," but there is a section in the proposed bill that deals with end of life counseling for senior citizens, and Obama knows it. Obamacare defenders try to argue that the counseling is just to set up living wills, but according to H.R. 3200 the counseling would be every 5 years. How many living wills do they think we need? If this plan is passed, health care rationing will occur and it will start with senior citizens. Bet on it. It may not say it will provide health care for illegal aliens but if and when the Democrats get their health care bill passed, watch for them to pass legislation to legalize all the illegals already here. That will make them eligible and Obama knows it. He said there would be no cuts to Medicare, but when you cut the amount a doctor can collect for treating Medicare patients it cuts down on the number of doctors willing to treat them, thereby limiting care and Obama knows it. The cap and trade bill will cause a mass exodus of industry out of this country and shut down countless more, and Obama knows it. We are at a crossroads in this country, one path will lead us to full blown socialism and the other will lead us down a path of national hardship, at least trying to clean up the mess Pelosi, Reid, Obama and company have wrought in less than a year. It is a sad thing to sit here and watch my beloved United States of America go down the drain. God help us and He's the only one who can. What do you think?
