Just Hanging There

We've all seen the pictures of the people in the streets in Iran protesting the most recent elections there. We all saw the overwhelming force it took by the Iranian police to contain the unrest.

I recently received some pictures -surreptitiously taken I'm sure- that show the protest and the brutality of Iranian forces in stark detail.

This thing was not just a peaceful protest with marching in the street and corner speakers with bullhorns, this was an all out effort comprised of tens of thousands of people who were determined to call the attention of the world to their plight.

The Iranian people, especially the young ones are tired of the iron hand of religious rule administered by a handful of jaded old Mullahs who are determined that Iran will not enter the twenty-first century, and a little rumpled puppet, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who wants to bring about worldwide chaos to hasten the coming of the Mahdi, the Islamic messiah who is only supposed to come when the world is locked in mortal combat.

So the people of Iran have only two official choices, live by Sharia Law or hope for the end of the world and they're sick and tired of it. Who can blame them?

They know what is going on in the rest of the world. They know about the latest fashions, the hottest music and all the other things that make up a free western culture and they want in on it.

They have grown so sick of being under the thumb of worn out old men who think that a woman showing her face is a sin that they're willing to get out on the street and let the world know about it, at the risk of life and limb.

Of course the government tried to suppress news coverage, even restricting reporters to their hotels, but in this day and age of sophisticated individual communications devices it was impossible to stop the leakage, resulting in the world seeing just how desperate the Mullahs are.

Official Iran can no longer completely control their population, they're sitting there ready to be incited and lead and eventually, in all likelihood a leader will arise.

The question is, "What will the free world do to help them achieve their freedom?" We've done precious little, so far. There's been hardly any encouragement from the Obama camp, most of the Congress and Senate have become deaf and mute on the subject and the United Nations has remained it's usual totally useless self.

Iran is hanging on the tree, ripe for revolution, but the other guys have got all the guns and control the military.

It would be so easy to isolate Iran. They don't have the refining capacity to make near enough gasoline to keep the country running, but I guess the western world will sit on our hands and let the opportunity pass us by, while the Mullahs suppress all the will to resist out of the movement.

It's a shame.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops, and for our country

God Bless America
