Soap Box Archives Fear and Loathing Continued A couple of months ago, I wrote about the attacks on former Miss California, Carrie Prejean, by the liberal media. Well, in the immortal words of Yogi Berra, "This is like déjà vu all over again." Recently David Letterman had some scathing and disrespectful jokes about Sarah Palin and her family and since Mrs. Palin had been the object of so much scorn from the left I, for one, was really surprised at the furor of the public outcry against Letterman. Why all the criticism and sick humor over an ordinary housewife who just happened to become the governor of Alaska. I can tell you in one word, fear. The left and most particularly the Democrat Party are literally scared of Sarah Palin, not her personally but what she represents. Sarah Palin is what the founding fathers of this nation meant for a politician to be. She has not spent her life in politics; she is not a career politician. She is not subject to the whims of the machine and represents all that is good about being a wife and mother. She is much more macho than ninety percent of the wimps who make up the House and Senate and could probably kick the butts of the political hacks who have spent their lives sitting behind a desk in Washington doing whatever they have to do to stay in office. The Democrats weren't afraid of John McCain, they knew that Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton could beat him, but they saw something in Sarah Palin that the Republican Party has not had in decades, a totally fresh face who represents middle America and the values they hold dear. Mrs. Palin is a Christian and a mother who has stood by her daughter through an out of wedlock birth and a governor who has gone against the big boys in her state and won. If Sarah Palin was the dunce that the mainstream media and their compadres made her out to be they would simply leave her alone, they'd just give her enough rope and she'd hang herself. But deep down they know that she is a smart and capable woman and as she becomes better known by the American people and they realize what she stands for, she will start to gain more and more support and that support could become a juggernaut that could catapult her into national office and that's their worst nightmare. It's the same old liberal methodology, if you're afraid of something or someone, destroy it, don't give it a chance to become a real threat. If you notice, the same people who made so light of Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky want to hang Mark Sanford, the governor of South Carolina, for his affair with a lady from Argentina. Why is one alright and one so wrong? It's because one is a Democrat and one is a Republican, and every Republican the left can destroy is one more they don't have to deal with. Now Sarah has resigned as Governor of Alaska, raising speculation that she will seek a Senate seat in 2010, or possibly even the White House in 2012. Regardless of what the future holds for her, don't look for the attacks from the left to let up anytime soon. There are others out there like Sarah Palin and let's hope that they will start coming forth and keep the liberals up at night. Myself, I like a woman who can handle a high-powered rifle. What do you think? Pray for our troops God Bless America Charlie Daniels
