Soap Box Archives How About a Little Clarification? The hero in
the big white house I wrote these words many years ago, they are a part of a song called "Payback Time" and though they seemed apropos at the time I wrote them they are really coming to fruition under the Obama Administration. Has anybody stopped to think what this man is doing? He is rushing from one socialistic project to another, never giving the public, and I fear the Congress, the time to digest the ramifications of one potential disaster before diverting their attention to another. Why won't the people who are in charge of deciding which Chrysler dealerships are closed, divulge the criteria they use to make the decision. Recently on the floor of the House of Representatives, Ted Poe, a Congressman from Texas, brought up the little known fact. That with one single exception, the dealerships that had been singled out to close had contributed to Republican political campaigns. Some of the dealerships that have been closed have been profitable and this doesn't make sense except to someone with a political motive. Does anybody understand the healthcare fiasco Obama is proposing? Does anybody actually believe that he will make enough cuts in the federal budget to pay for it? Why doesn't he explain it in laymen's terms so the citizens who are supposed to run this country are able to comprehend it? Why didn't ABC allow opposing viewpoints from a GOP Representative, or any organization with a viewpoint contrary to the Obama plan to advertise on his recent healthcare infomercial? What is the hurry? Why does he want to shove this down America's throat without anybody understanding it? Could he be afraid that if we knew what it actually entailed there would be such a public clamor that Congress would never pass it? What has happened to the billions of TARP dollars, where have they gone and to who have they gone and why can't America tell the difference in its economy? Why did the government give billions of dollars to GM and Chrysler if they knew they were going to file bankruptcy anyway? Why throw the money down a black hole where there is no hope of recovering it? This week Obama says he's going to move on to immigration reform. What is he talking about and what does he mean by "reform?" Does it mean true reform where everybody who comes into this country has to do so legally? That would be true reform, but I seriously doubt if that's what the President is talking about, but regardless he owes the American people an explanation before the Congress passes the legislation. Why would a President who truly had the well-being of a nation at heart cut funding for the missile defense system while Iran develops weapons and rocketry to deliver them, North Korea is completely out of hand, nuclear power Pakistan is in danger of falling to Islamic fanatics and our old enemy Russia is flexing it's muscle around the world. The way I see it, President Obama owes the American people some clarification before another "i" is dotted or another "t" is crossed. And will the party who castrated Congress please stand up?
