Soap Box Archives Just When You Thought They Couldn't Sink Any Lower If you read this column, you know that I disagree with President Obama on a lot of things, but when he is right I want to give him credit for it, and in refusing to release the photographs of enhanced interrogations of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, he is right as rain and I think he should be applauded for it. On the other hand there are those in his party who bring dirty shame to the Democrats by insisting that the photos be released, even though they know it will do harm to our military by fanning the already out of control flames among Islamic fanatics. Barney Frank, The New York Times and the ACLU also want the photos released, but one has come to expect nothing less from this hate America crowd. Nancy Pelosi is a joke, a caricature, a small and greedy person motivated by self importance, a pathetic, puffed up charlatan who evidently doesn't care what happens to the military as long as she can gain favor with her far left constituency in San Francisco. Ms. Pelosi is out of control. She exemplifies all that is wrong with the left wing of the Democrat Party. She is an extremely unpopular lightning rod which attracts adversity, and most surprisingly of all she is defying the President of the United States, the leader of her own party. I was under the impression she thought he could do no wrong, at least that's the feeling you get from her sickening, fawning praise for him. Nancy Pelosi is probably the best thing that could happen to the Republican Party, all they have to do to get re-elected is watch her and do the exact opposite of what she does. She has already made some powerful enemies, and has probably not heard the last of Leon Panetta for accusing the CIA of lying to Congress. In my personal opinion I don't look to see the Democrats suffer Ms. Pelosi much longer, she is a divider who could torpedo the myriad of legislation Obama plans to saddle the American public with in the near future, and there again she may be the best friend the Republicans have. And while I'm defending the military, let me issue an invitation to Janet Napolitano who is trying to change the name of the War on Terror to the "Overseas Contingency Operation." Ms. Napolitano I would like to invite you to take a trip to Iraq with me, and not to the Green Zone where you can hobnob with brass and other politicians but to the little forward operating bases where the brave men and women of the United States military serve. I want you to put on a uniform and full battle gear, body armor and a heavy backpack and walk about four miles in 130-degree weather. Then I want you to get in a Humvee and go outside the wire and ride the roads around some of the places where the Islamic terrorists are planting their little roadside surprises. I want you to spend a day riding with the troops as they take their lives in their hands, never knowing when the road is going to blow up in their faces. Then I want you to go on a call with the guys who disarm the roadside bombs as they disable an explosive device that could go off at any time. Then I want you to come back to base and take a lie detector test and be asked if you were terrified. You see Ms. Napolitano, when you sit behind a desk in Washington and make up impotent, silly names for something as serious as the War on Terror, it's time for you to find out what the heck you're talking about, because you evidently don't know. The invitation stands and I'm easy to get a hold of. Oh, and by the way Ms. Pelosi you're invited too. What do you think? Pray for our troops, and for our country God Bless America Charlie Daniels
