Soap Box Archives Remember How You Felt Does anybody remember what it was like on that morning in September 2001 when the news came down that the trade towers had been attacked by our own airplanes? Does anybody remember what it was like when the next plane hit the Pentagon and one went down in a field in Pennsylvania? Does anybody recall being on the edge of panic wondering when it was going to stop and how many planes were going to crash into America and how many American citizens were going to die before it was over? Does anybody remember the ensuing months when we wondered when the next attack was going to come? Well the next attack didn't come and there's a very good reason for that. It doesn't matter how you feel about the Bush administration, there is one thing you have to admit, not one American citizen died from a terrorist attack on American soil after 9/11. Has it been because there haven't been efforts to mount other terrorist attacks on America? I think we all know the answer to that. Of course there have been. But they were foiled by the measures adopted by the Bush White House. The founding of Homeland Security and enabling the sharing of information among the federal agencies and other new and far reaching measures which have kept this nation safe for seven years. Everybody just wanted something done, something to insure that American families would be safe from these murderers and nobody cared what it took or how it was done, just as long as it was done. Nobody cared how the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay were questioned, only that they gave up information that would prevent the catastrophic events of 9/11 from happening again.
In the middle of an ongoing War On Terror he wants to instigate a witch hunt into the Bush administration's handling of interrogation methods in Guantanamo and Barack Obama is considering letting it happen. Hatred can destroy people and the Democrat's rabid hatred of George W. Bush could very well blow up in their faces. They are playing a dangerous game, exposing our clandestine operation and interrogation methods to the scrutiny of our blood enemies. And if America is attacked again they will have no leg to stand on since their hatred of Bush outweighs their concern for the safety of America, and that hatred could well destroy them. President Obama if you go along with this you're going to expose all the methods that were used to obtain life saving information from scumbags that want to kill every American including you, your wife and your two little girls. The least you can do is tell the American people how many terrorist (Oh, excuse me) enemy combatants (Oh, that's right . We can't call them that either) How many "man caused disaster" plots were foiled and how many American lives were saved by the secrets your party is so bent on exposing? Don't do this, Mr. President. You're not going to make yourself look good by trying to make somebody else look bad. Remember that the Bush Administration kept America safe for seven years. Can you do the same thing? And if we are attacked again and unbearable pressure mounts on you to do something to prevent more attacks can you honestly say that you won't resort to the same methods or worse? President Obama, if you're going to release the enhanced interrogation methods, then how about releasing to the public the results of those interrogations? Make public the information about the terrorist cell that was uncovered in the U.S. and the plot for a second wave of 9/11-type attacks aimed at Los Angeles that was foiled by the enhanced interrogation of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed at Gitmo. If it comes down to upholding your ideals or preventing five hundred Americans from dying in a nuclear explosion, will you stick to your high morals and let it happen? Remember, it looks different down in the trenches. Will you show some leadership and put a stop to this useless and dangerous game some in your party are playing, or will you go along with rabble-rousers like Patrick Lehy and continue to tear this country apart? The choice is yours, but the country is ours and you are going to have to live with your decision, the problem is that We The People are too. What do you think? Pray for our troops God Bless America Charlie Daniels
