Soap Box Archives One-eyed Jacks If you're familiar with playing cards you know there's a character in the deck called a one-eyed jack. You can only see one half of his face and we never know what the other side looks like, what his countenance is, if he is frowning or smiling or if he has a kindly or sinister look in his eye. I find some of our liberal institutions these days to be comparable to one-eyed jacks. The side of their face they present to the public claims to be benevolent and vigilant, only concerned with the greater good, while we never see the other side of the face, which would reveal the true meaning of their intentions and actions. In my humble opinion the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State is a one-eyed jack. Their public face, represented mainly by a man who calls himself Rev. Barry Lynn, claims to be unbiased and unprejudiced when it comes to keeping politics out of the pulpits of America. They claim to be neutral observers concerned only with making sure that the churches of this nation remain above the political fray when it comes to supporting a candidate, doing so at a threat to the loss of their tax free status with the IRS. The problem with Mr. Lynn and his organization is that we never see the other side of the face hidden from the public. In actuality Rev. Lynn is quite selective in his policing of the pulpit. He recently castigated a catholic priest for writing a paper condemning abortion, which is a strong tenet of the Catholic faith, and although the writing condemned candidates who would support abortion, it never mentioned them by name. But Mr. Lynn and his organization turned a blind eye to a certain hate spewing priest of the same faith named Father Michael Flaeger, who stood in the pulpit of Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church in Chicago and openly campaigned for Barack Obama. When questioned about this glaring oversight, Mr. Lynn said that Father Flaeger was not in his own church when he made the statements. Pretty lame, Mr. Lynn. Sounds like selective persecution to me. And speaking of Jeremiah Wright's church how about Rev. Wright's open endorsement of Obama, and from the pulpit no less. How about him Mr. Lynn? He was certainly in his own church. And let's get down to the meat of the subject. What about the radical mosques across America where open rebellion and jihad are preached, where America, it's people and it's government are considered a blood enemy. Is that not political Mr. Lynn? Now just why can't you find it in your heart to expose this, Rev. Lynn? You won't have a problem finding plenty of these mosques that preach the overthrow of the American government, and this is about as political as it gets. Now Mr. Lynn, be honest with yourself, which is more dangerous to America, some honest preacher tacitly endorsing a political candidate or an imam who supports open rebellion against the America you are so diligent of protecting from religion? Put your money where your mouth is, Mr. Lynn.
