Soap Box Archives Front Page Fallacy Why has nobody confronted Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and their cohorts about making the statements that the war in Iraq was lost and the surge wasn't working? They should have their noses rubbed in the fact that they belittled American heroes and the job they were doing for their own selfish, partisan political reasons. They made such an issue about mistakes being made in the War on Terror, they wanted to bring our troops home before the war was won, and they criticized generals who had ten times the guts and responsibility they themselves had, even refusing to condemn a fallacious and spiteful ad calling General David Petraeus a liar, to their everlasting shame. Why isn't the media demanding them to admit their mistakes? Our media is in a shambles. Once the most respected newspaper in America, The New York Times has relegated the stories of the war in Iraq to boilerplate status. Could that be because the news from Iraq is good or do they just really want to see America lose the war? The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, once the pride of the Southland, known for honesty and high journalistic standards has, for the most part, become a partisan rag, devoted to liberal policy, little more than a propaganda sheet for the Democrat party. There was a time in this nation when truth and integrity in publishing really mattered. Not anymore, most large city newspapers are agenda driven and lean so far to the left, it's a wonder their buildings don't fall over. And are the television networks any better? I think not. We all know about the Dan Rather incident at CBS and NBC doesn't even make excuses for their left-wing content anymore. I am ashamed of the mainstream American media. They covered their front pages with war coverage when it was not going as well and now refuse to inform us of the gains being made in Iraq. The embedded reporters bombarded us with bad news and now don't even have the common decency to let the parents of these heroes fighting the War on Terror know how well their sons and daughter are doing. It's nothing short of a national shame. So I would like to take this time to thank every one of the men and women who are serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. You are doing a tremendous job and while you won't read about it in The New York Times or see it on NBC, please know that in spite of the unpatriotic efforts to hide the truth, us people out here in flyover country know you're winning and that you have never lost this war for one day. And let me make a little cowboy logic analogy for those who say you're not fighting the War on Terror. Suppose you bought a house and when you walked in you got bit by a rattlesnake in the living room and subsequently found that the whole house, every room was loaded with rattlesnakes. Would you kill the ones in the living room and let the rest live because they hadn't bitten anybody yet. The war in Iraq is against al-Qaeda for sure, but it makes no difference what they call themselves, they're blood enemies of America and either we destroy them or they destroy us. If this nation ever goes down, it will be because of a wimpy Congress or the naivety of a president. It will not be because of our men and women who stand in the gap between us and our enemies. Hats off to you guys and gals who make it possible for us and our children to go to bed at night without worrying about some Islamic fanatic slaughtering us during the night. You're all that stands between them and us. And don't you forget it America!!!!!!!
Pray for our troops. What do you think? God Bless America Charlie Daniels
