I Can Feel It Coming On...

It's almost here, staring us right in the face.

Football season!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!! Rah, rah!!! Wonderful, marvelous, stupendous, incredible, football!!!!!!!

Months and months of Sunday afternoon double headers, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, Thursday night college games and all Saturday afternoon of glorious football!!!!!!

If a team has Tennessee in front of it you can bet I'll be pulling for it. Of course, my favorite college team is the Volunteers and my favorite pro team is the Titans.

Both of my teams play in the toughest divisions in football, the Vols in the Southeastern Conference and the Titans in the south division of the AFC along with Jacksonville, Indianapolis and Houston.

The Southeastern Conference is undoubtedly the toughest conference, team for team, in college football. Florida, Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, all powerhouses. The national title has been won by SEC teams for the last two years.

There are no pushover teams in the SEC. Teams that once were easy pickings like Kentucky and Vanderbilt have come on strong in the last few years and have become formidable opponents.

The Titans have made some good moves in the off season acquiring a Pro Bowl tight end, Alge Crumpler, a rookie running back named Chris Johnson who moves like greased lightning and bringing "The Freak", Jevon Kearse, back to Nashville where he belongs.

Vince Young, now in his third year of quarterbacking the team, should show much more poise and maturity this year.

I just happen to think that head coach Jeff Fisher is as good a coach as there is in the NFL. He got his young Titans into the playoffs by a fingernail last year and this year should show some marked improvement in their record.

The other teams in our division are going to be as tough as ever. Jacksonville always plays a punishing brand of offense and a very physical and hard-charging defense. Houston has been coming on strong the last few years and should be a handful this year and everyone knows about the Indianapolis Colts with Peyton Manning at the helm.

Of course, I watch my favorite teams every chance I get, but I can just sit down at a television set and watch any two teams play just for the pure enjoyment of the game and I'm really looking forward to this season.

I know a lot of you out there feel the same about football as I do and you probably do the same thing I do, flip back and forth between the NFL game and the NASCAR race. If you haven't you should try it. It's great fun!

Well, I hope your team wins this year, unless they happen to be playing the Vols or the Titans.

Go Big Orange! Go Titans!

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
