2008 Soap Box Archives An All But Forgotten Disgrace There are two border patrol agents sitting in a federal prison right now and the only thing they're guilty of is self defense in trying to protect America's southern border by shooting an illegal alien named Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila in the butt after he pointed what they thought was a gun at them. Actually border patrol agents Jose Alonsa Compean and Ignacio Ramos are the victims here. Victims of a headline seeking prosecutor with a case built on technicalities, not caring that he would be destroying two good men and their families, men who were only doing their job. Aldrete-Davila was trying to smuggle 800 pounds of marijuana into the United States in a van and guess what, the prosecutor let this scumbag walk, he actually walked back over to Mexico and proceeded to bring another load of marijuana back across the border. At the trial an assistant U.S. attorney said that the border patrol agents had violated the rights of an unarmed man. Well Mr. or Ms. U.S. attorney, I'm sure agents Compean and Ramos had all of two seconds to decide if what the scumbag was pointing at them was a gun or not. The point is this, every time there is an incident involving law enforcement or the military there are always vultures lurking In the wings who just can't wait to make them look bad. Remember the incident in Iraq when a Marine was defending himself and his buddies and shot a supposedly dead man after he made a move? Always give the bad guy the benefit of the doubt. The vultures moved in and tried to destroy this young man who had a split second to decide if the man he shot was just moving or getting ready to activate an explosive device. I wish with all my heart that the prosecutors in El Paso, the panty waist politicians and the rush to judgement media hounds could, just one time, have to make a life or death decision in a split second. Compean and Ramos are nothing more than a political football to these people, a front page story that is soon discarded, a political means to an end for local politicians, a nod of the head to Mexican government and the national media. We should be ashamed of a justice system that would punish anybody for doing their job to the best of their ability and judgment. As in so many illegal alien situations, the blame is placed on Local or Federal law enforcement rather than on the people who had no right being in this country in the first place. Does it bother me that Adrete-Davila got shot in the butt while trying to smuggle marijuana into the U.S.? Not in the least. He was an illegal alien handling illegal substance. He knew it was against the law to do what he did and if he hadn't been doing it he would never been confronted by these two agents. There is a strong indication that there was relevant evidence withheld by the prosecutor's office and that some jurors were coerced to deliver a guilty verdict. Is this not a crime that at least deserves an exhaustive investigation by the FBI? Shame on every politician in Washington including President Bush for not making this right, or at least demanding a new trial where all the evidence is presented, including the fact that the illegal scumbag who got shot in the butt has been busted again for attempting to smuggle several hundred more pounds of pot across our border. Some people never learn. Free Jose Alonzo Compean and Ignacio Ramos. We need them and thousands more like them defending the borders of our nation Pray for our troops. What do you think?
