Peril

If you have read the Holy Bible to any extent, you know that the major portion of the Old Testament is devoted to God's dealing with the people and the nation of Israel and though he punished them many times for their unfaithfulness, he has made it very clear that Israel is still the apple of his eye and will be the major player on the world stage in the last days.

There are also warnings in the word of God about nations who would mistreat them. The nations of this world abuse Israel at their national peril and there are dire consequences prophesied for those who would do so.

I make no bones about it I think George W. Bush is a good president who leads by conviction rather than popularity polls. I admire his tenacity for standing against a hostile Congress and an even more hostile media.

But I stringently question what he is proposing to do in the Middle East now. I must admire anyone on a true peace mission and goodness knows, too many people have died in the Israeli Arab conflicts over the years.

But to have true peace, all the parties involved have to have a real and burning desire to resolve their differences and stop the slaughter and the Palestinians are nowhere near that position.

Of course, they'll sit down at a table and make all kinds of promises in return for what they can get out of the deal. But when it comes to delivering on their promises they never have and they never will.

It sounds noble and idealistic to talk about giving the Palestinians a homeland but the truth of the matter is they don't want a homeland that doesn't include all of Jerusalem and all of Israel. Nothing less will satisfy them.

For Israel to give up more territory is nothing less than absolute folly. It would be like allowing an army dedicated to their total destruction to move into their backyard to rain their katyusha rockets down on their major population centers, not to even mention providing a dangerous proximity for terrorists.

The situation in the Middle East is a complex and confusing conundrum where nobody has a clear cut consensus of power and the hate runs so deep that mothers send their sons to die in suicide bombings.

These people don't even get along among themselves and about the only time the myriad of violent factions unite in a common cause is when it's against Israel.

Part of the peace deal is for the Jews to turn part of Jerusalem over to the Palestinians. Jerusalem is the Holy City of God where the capitol of Jesus Christ will be set up during the millennium, the thousand years of peace following the destruction of the antichrist.

If you're not familiar with the Bible I know that this can be very confusing, but if you care to search the scriptures for yourself you can find it all.

On what was written and prophesied thousands of years ago I base my fear of what President Bush is doing in the Middle East.

The scriptures, when referring to God's promise to Abraham, the Patriarch of the Jewish race says, "He who blesses you I will bless and he who curses you I will curse."

I sincerely hope and pray that President Bush and the leaders of Israel will rethink their intentions and renig on a peace deal that is bound to fail and one that could well put America at odds with Almighty God.

Please don't do it Mr. President.

Pray for our troops

What do you think?

God Bless America
