Elections

It seems to me that America is on the eve of the nastiest, most cutthroat presidential election in our history.

Unfortunately politics in our nation no longer reflect the adage, may the best man (or woman) win. It has become a lesser of two evils bloodletting with the outcome depending, not on the most qualified person but how bad they can make their opponents look.

National politics have become a slash and burn, seek and destroy exercise complete with hired gunslingers who sift through every ounce of the other candidate's life to find anything, no matter how insignificant or meaningless, which can be blown up totally out of proportion and slung at the other side with as much animosity attached as is possible, hoping to set off a feeding frenzy amongst the media sharks who prowl in the background just salivating to print some juicy tidbit to help destroy the reputation of anyone who doesn¹t fit their left wing profile.

The media coverage would not be quite so bad if not for the one sided exposure. Their selective attitude and gentle handling of the transgressions of the left while maintaining a mountain, molehill handling of those on the
right. Many times leaving the truth buried somewhere in the mud hole.

Case in point, Dan Rather's rush to judgment on the National Guard record of George W. Bush. He was so bent on hurting the President he took the chance of making a fool out of himself and his television network just because he wanted something to be true.

I don't know who is going to be the Republican candidate but I think it's a pretty safe bet that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic one and it's just a guess but I would wager that Obama will be her Vice Presidential running mate.

I wonder if any network anchorman will look into bill Clinton's murky military service, or lack thereof, don't hold your breath.

Hillary Clinton is dragging a lot of baggage around behind her but don't look for the media to cast their eyes in that direction.

But keep your attention on her opposition, you can bet your last dollar that every inch of their lives will be microscopically examined and anything that sticks out, regardless of how innocent, will be exploited by the lap dogs in our national media.

Fasten your seatbelts and hang on tight folks, this one is going to be a long bumpy ride and nobody who chooses to throw their hat in the ring, Democrat or Republican, is going to come out without scratches and bruises.

It's a shame that one of the most important Presidential races we'll ever have in this nation is probably going to be decided by just how many pounds of mud sticks to each candidate.

Oh and by the way, Obama, taking that American flag pin off tells me something about you. I don't care who you're speaking to and trying to please, if you can¹t wear the symbol of the nation you want to be President of you're not fit to be elected.

Pray for our troops

What do you think?
