Forte or Farce Part One

When they're not throwing a tantrum proclaiming that George W. Bush is the worst thing that has happened to the free world in a couple of centuries, the topic de jour among the self proclaimed wise and elite these days is global warming.

Now don't get me wrong, I know there are actually people out there who believe that the planet is about to burn up and spin out of control.

Well let me say a word of assurance to those who are thus deposed. Carbon and greenhouse gases will never bring about the destruction of this planet.

There was a time when I thought that science was an absolute representation of the facts as known at the time they were presented. My mind has changed drastically.

Unfortunately if you want to follow the science on global warming, you simply have to follow the money. So many of the purse strings for major grants are controlled by people who have no interest in having their apple carts upset.

Even the people who are so adamant that the world is about to become toast can't be seriously worried, at least it's not reflected in their lifestyles. They continue to use private jets and ride in limousines.

Al Gore and his traveling global warming fright show and his stationary energy guzzling mansions will make a bigger carbon footprint in a year than a whole bunch of the people he's trying to scare to death.

While I don't want to shake hands with anybody who only uses one sheet of toilet paper, I don¹t really have anything against these people except their inconsistency and their intransigence when confronted with facts.

The mass media has been screaming gloom and doom for the planet for the last 100 years. It just seems they can't make up their minds if we¹re going to be burned alive by global warming or frozen to death in a new Ice Age.

And these so called journalists will not abide any dissenting opinions. One reporter from CBS compared people who don't believe in global warming to people who deny the Holocaust.

If I've learned anything in my seventy years is that there are two sides to every story, but I guess these guys haven't discerned that yet.

When I first had the idea to write this piece I thought I'd do it in one column but I found a lot of information I'd like to share with you all and if you good people will bear with me I will devote a few columns to the subject.

To sum it up let me just say that in my humble opinion we have more pertinent, more important and much more pressing things to worry about than global warming.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
