Senatorial Insanity 06/16/06

Senatorial Insanity

It’s hard to believe that the Senate is proposing giving social security to illegal aliens. No, I take that back, it’s not hard to believe anything about the Senate these days. They’re apt to do or say anything.

Is there not one United States Senator left who has the intestinal fortitude to stand up to the politically correct crowd and say, ”This ain’t right.”

They are so afraid of offending somebody that they talk in circles and chase their tails.

We’re in a dangerous position with our oil supply and they don’t have the guts to push through a bill to drill for the oil that we have plenty of because they’re afraid of offending the green bunch.

They’re terrified of actually stating where they stand on gay marriage because they’re afraid of offending one or the other side on that issue.

They’re afraid of taking a stand on immigration for fear of offending the Hispanics.

They’re afraid of calling abortion murder for fear of offending the feminists.

They’re afraid to do anything meaningful about education, like allowing school vouchers because they would offend the teacher’s unions.

It seems that about the only thing the U.S. Senate is not afraid of is spending our hard earned money on senseless projects, aiding people who hate us and building bridges to nowhere.

Senators are like chameleons, it depends on where they’re standing how they color their statements. And if a TV camera is around they are apt to talk for fifteen minutes and not say a dad blamed thing.

Just once I would like to see a Senator answer a question straight out without all those little side trips, like “Senator how do you like the President’s proposal to save social security?”

Typical answer, “Well John, as you know Senator Claghorn and myself have drafted a Social Security bill which is under study in committee as we speak and while the President’s proposal has some salient points, I don’t believe it addresses the problems we face today. You know the American people deserve a comprehensive solution to the Social Security problem.”

Real meaning. ”Well, John, the President beat us to the punch on this one and we’re playing catch up and stalling for time while we wait to see what the latest polls say and as far as the President goes I hate the SOB and will never vote for anything he proposes no matter how good it is.”

Wouldn’t it be refreshing to have just one Senator stand up and say, ”Yes I do, no I don’t, yes I will, no I won’t.”

Come on Senators, offend somebody.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
