I don’t know all the facts about the recent shooting of civilians

By marines in Iraq and neither does anybody else, but that doesn’t stop the Bush haters and military detractors from coming out of the woodwork screaming foul with words like massacre and My Lai. In their minds the Marines are guilty even before the investigation is completed.

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? What ever happened to due process of law? What ever happened to common sense?

As I said, I don’t know what happened, but one thing I do know. There are two sides to every story and we’ve only heard one side of it so far and I think we should reserve our judgment until we’ve heard both sides.

One thing we have to remember. These young men were not strolling down the streets of Atlanta, Ga. They were treading some of the most dangerous real estate on planet earth where life-threatening danger lurks around every corner and if you don’t stay on your toes you could be going home in a box.

Why can the same people who are so concerned about the rights of the murderers we’re holding in Guantanamo Bay not extend the same privilege to the young men and women who are fighting for them?

I have been among the Marines in Iraq and they’re some of the finest and best-trained young people on earth. They are not sadists nor wanton killers as some of our U.S. media would have you to believe and they do not walking around shooting innocent civilians.

If mistakes were made they will be found out and dealt with and should be but I’m so sick of the media painting everybody wearing a uniform as a killer just waiting to unleash violence.

War is hell and unfortunately mistakes will be made and innocent people are going to be hurt, but this is not the mission of the United States military.

Why can’t some of you desk bound yahoos devote a little ink to the atrocities the other side commits? They torture and kill they’re own people and you ink jockeys would rather spend your time critisizing the men and women who are trying to put a stop to them.

I wish everybody could get it through their collective heads that we are fighting Al Quaida in Iraq. The same people who killed over three thousands American citizens on 9-11.

And besides that, a terrorist is a terrorist and one thing they have in common is that they all hate the United States of America and the only good one is a dead one.

Right now we are pointing the finger of the world at a few young men who want nothing more than to protect themselves and their country. You bunch of rabid news hounds could at least have the decency to wait until all the facts are in before condemning young people who are twice the men you’ll ever be.

Pray for our troops.
