As I write this piece it is Sunday morning and tomorrow, Monday
is the fifth
anniversary of the morning that changed the world forever.
Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when
you first heard the news? I do.
Do you remember how you felt as it slowly came to light that
this horrible
and wanton attack on mankind had been done on purpose by people
who
professed to be serving a religious cause?
Do you remember the confusion and uncertainty as plane after
plane crashed causing incredible loss of innocent life, not
knowing how many planes had been commandeered and how many attacks
there would be.
It was a frustrating and helpless feeling, the uncertainty,
the anger and
wanting to strike out at somebody and not knowing who.
My point in writing this piece at this time is that I hope it
will help us
to remember the hurt America experienced on that day. That we
never forget the degree of evil these people are capable of.
These are people who can coldly cut the throat of an airline
stewardess with
a box cutter, who can crash a planeload of innocent people into
a skyscraper full of other innocent people. They deprive children
of their parents, husbands of their wives, interrupt the lineage
of countless generations and all in the name of their religion.
What kind of religion condones this kind of behavior? What kind
of god
sanctifies suicide, mass murder and hate? What kind of religion
mandates the killing of everybody on earth who doesn't share
its beliefs?
What are we fighting? The answer is we are fighting fanaticism,
hatred, total intolerance, genicide and pure evil. We fight
an enemy who is
devious and intelligent, an enemy who uses the very freedoms
we treasure
against us, who capitalize on the naivety of well meaning Americans.
There are those in America, on this forum for that matter, who
tend to think these people are like everybody else, that if
we'd just be nice to them and leave them alone they'd go peacefully
away.
No folks, these people are not like other people you know. Do
you know
anybody who would strap explosives on their bodies and walk
into a shopping mall?
Do you know anybody who would take a knife and cut someone's
head off and do it on television so that person's family always
have a grisly reminder of how their loved one died?
Do you know anybody who would drive a truckload of dynamite
into a public
building?
Do you know anybody who would put a bomb on a train and murder
people whose faces they've never even seen?
If you have any doubt what kind of monsters we're dealing with
just get out
some file footage of the planes flying into the trade towers.
Never forget, never forget.
Pray for our troops.
What do you think?
God Bless America
