Immigration and Political Correctness 09/01/06

Some time ago some of you may remember a Soapbox article I wrote
titled Mexican Standoff, in which I basically said that people should
not be able to come into this country without going through the legal
process, since we don’t know who they are, where they are or what
they’re doing.

Well I got an email, unsigned of course, from somebody who in
essence accused me of being a bigot and that I had a problem with
people coming to this country to have a better life for them and
their families. Which is a crock, as I have nothing against anybody
coming here for a better life and stated it in the article. What
I’m against is them coming here illegally.

One of the biggest tools of the politically correct is to twist
other’s words to mean whatever they want them to mean. Anybody who
read the article with half an ounce of gray matter in their noggins
know that it was not bigoted and addressed a pandemic problem that
can’t be dreamed away with empty political correct platitudes.

Recent global events have dulled the attention we are giving the
serious situation on our southern borders but it’s still there,
growing worse every day and is totally out of control and will stay
that way until we get some national politicians who have the cajones
to take the harsh action it’s going to take to remedy it.

Another trick of the politically correct, left leaning activists
and their cohorts the major media, is to bend the news to their own
will and agenda. Does anybody in their right mind really believe
that every person who slips across our international border with
Mexico is coming here to have a better life for their families?

That’s the way the mass media paints the picture while they all
but ignore the violent, and I mean violent, street gangs and other
assorted riff raff who cross into our country.

When I was in grammar school, we took a field trip to a federal
building in my hometown to watch a group of foreign born immigrants
become American Citizens and what a proud moment it was for them.
They had worked hard and long for the privilege of becoming a citizen
of a nation they’d not been born in.

What makes anybody think that stepping across an imaginary line on
the earth qualifies them to be a citizen of that country. They come
into our country without going through any official procedure at all
not even disease control. A deadly epidemic could well cross our
border and be well on it’s way to wreaking havoc on millions of
people before we even knew about it. Millions of uncontrolled and
undocumented people crossing our border is madness. Nothing good
will come of it and the potential for disaster is overwhelming.

Eventually the sheer numbers of unskilled workers will reach
critical mass and the lid is going to blow off unless the lid blows
off a nuclear suitcase bomb first.

Pray for our troops

What do you think?

God bless America
