End In Sight 08/04/06
I am,
and I know you are, disgusted with the price of gasoline and
diesel
fuel. It's spiraling out of control with no end in sight and
it seems that
everybody is powerless to do anything about it.
Petroleum
companies make record profits and regardless of what they say
I
feel sure that there is gouging going on in certain places.
But that is not
really the root of our problem and the root of our problem is
a two edged
sword.
Edge
one, there is not an infinite supply of fossil fuel anywhere
on earth.
While there may be resources to last us for many years, the
reality is that
one of these days we are going to run out.
Edge
two, depending on the Middle East and Southwest Asia for our
energy
needs is like playing Russian roulette with five bullets in
the cylinder.
Any sane person with enough sense to pour water out of a boot
with the
directions on the heel knows that the source could cease at
any time.
What
would happen if just one nuclear device was exploded in the
middle of
the oil fields and they became uninhabitable for years?
The
money we spend on Middle Eastern oil is going directly to buy
weapons
for the people who want to destroy us. And the environmental
lobby has
Congress' gonads so firmly ensconced in it's hot little hand
that we aren't
really doing anything meaningful about it.
We have
plenty of oil in the ground in America but we can't go after
it
because we may disturb the natural habitat of the double-breasted
red
stroodnoodle or some microscopic doodlebug.
Now
let me say this, I am 100% in favor of getting off fossil fuel
altogether, but that's going to take some time to develop.
So what
do we do? Let¹s apply a little cowboy logic. It works like
this.
Let's
build a couple of new refineries and pump our own crude out
of the
ground until we can get our alternate sources up and running.
And we should have an all out, private and government funded
crash program to produce ethanol and other energy sources
It's
actually not rocket science. Brazil has had and used this technology
for decades. It would just take a commitment on our part.
This
would do two things. It would remove our lower anatomy from
the hands of fanatics and the drop in oil revenues in that troubled
region would significantly reduce the amount of money they have
to spend on weapons, making the world a safer place.
And
imagine what a giant new industry like alternative fuel would
do for the
economy of America.
It's
either that or bring back the horse and buggy.
Pray
for our troops.
What
do you think?
God
Bless America
