Soap Box Archives Television 04/05/04 I never watched television until I was about 15 years old and when I did I went stone crazy over it. I would watch anything and I mean anything. Variety shows, soap operas, musical shows, news shows, heck Id even watch the test pattern for a few minutes once in a while. Of course there was only one station but I was faithful to watch whatever they programmed. In later years when I went on the road playing clubs I would sleep until sometime in the afternoon and grew to hate soap operas since that was about all that was on at that time of the day. Of course Id work at night and missed the primetime stuff. Hit shows would come on, run their course and go off the air without me ever seeing them. Its funny how time changes things. Now I sit here with 200 channels of satellite and sometimes cant find anything that I want to watch. The movies are either dull or too racy for me, the news gets repeated over and over and till this day I still cant stomach soaps. Now dont get me wrong, I still love television. Ive been known to watch two football games at the same time and I enjoy baseball. I dont get into basketball until along about March Madness and theres the occasional movie or musical show I like but NASCAR only comes on once a week and the pickings get pretty slim in between times. I have never watched Survivor or The Bachelor and Ive never seen Donald Trump fire anybody and I never understood Seinfeld. Maybe its a generation gap thing. And another
thing that bothers me is that it seems that almost everything I want
to see is on television at the same time. On Sunday Hazel likes the cooking and decorating shows and Id just as soon watch paint dry and Id rather shovel out a horse stall as to watch a sitcom. Im sick
of Scott Peterson and Coby Bryant and Michael Jackson, And just think, we have the Presidential campaigns to look forward to this year. We can find out how many ways you can call somebody a low down dirty rascal. The Democrat and Republican conventions are about as much fun as third grade math. Well cheer up
Charlie, the NFL season is just a few months away. In the meantime, anyone for fishing?
Pray for our troops. What do you think? God Bless America Charlie Daniels
