Christmas
2004 12/13/04
Here
it is again, my favorite season of the year, Christmastime!!!
I have
just a few loose ends to tie up and then we'll be heading home
to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Christmas
at Twin Pines Ranch is a wonderful event. Hazel really goes
all out to make our log home beautiful with the trappings of
the season. She has four Christmas trees and all kinds of special
decorations that we have collected over the years.
The
cd changer is loaded with our favorite Christmas music and the
kitchen is filled with wonderful smells.
Of course
I'm always hoping for some cold weather so I can keep a fire
going in our big old fireplace.
If I'm
not mistaken about the number we will be having our 25th annual
employees Christmas party at our house this year. We started
out calling it the kid's party and we only had a few children
for Santa Claus to visit. Now we are into our third generation.
Some of those kids who came to the party all those years ago
have grown up and have children of their own.
It's
a special time and about the only time of the year when all
The CDB family comes together in one group. We have the band
and road crew, the folks who man the office, the publishing
people, the fan club folks, and the Twin Pines Ranch bunch.
We all
get together and have a fine old time and then everybody goes
their separate ways, some to their homes in Tennessee and some
to distant cities to spend Christmas with their loved ones.
Christmas
is a time to be with those who mean the most to you and those
of us who are able to do that should feel blessed, as I am reminded
about the parents whose children stand in harm's way in Iraq
and Afghanistan. I know that there must be an empty place in
their hearts at this time of year and I pray that their precious
sons and daughters will spend next Christmas at home.
I can't
imagine what it must be like to be in a troubled hot spot during
Christmastime, and I want all of you in the military who read
this column to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you
and I can't begin to express the gratitude and admiration I
have for each and every one of you.
We owe
you big time and I just hope that there will be a way that we
the people can show our gratitude for your tremendous sacrifice
one of these days.
With
all the bad news the media feeds us on a daily basis let's take
the time to acknowledge some good news. In fact the greatest
news of all times.
Jesus
Christ, the only begotten son of Almighty God, was born of a
virgin in Bethlehem over two thousand years ago. He took the
sins of the world to an old rugged cross and shed His blood
that we may have eternal life.
From
all the good folks in The CDB family, to you wherever you are,
we wish you a healthy, happy, Merry Christmas.
Pray
for our troops
What
do you think?
God
Bless America
