The Problem 07/26/04

Some time ago I wrote a column suggesting that the antiwar protestors go to a small town in Georgia and see what the people there thought about their antics, or that some of our network anchor people go talk to a long distance trucker at a truck stop and get his take on things.

Well can you believe that I’ve gotten email from some of these so called concerned, fair minded, intellectual, wise beyond words citizens saying things like, “who cares what a small town in Georgia thinks about the protests or who cares what a truck driver thinks about the issues.”

Now you see, that’s the trouble with you people on the far left. You don’t care about what anybody who doesn’t agree with you thinks. You think that everybody besides you and your like minded buddies are completely unable to render a logical decision on world affairs and that such weighty matters should be left to you and your ilk.

Well think again, the people in that small town and those truck drivers have more practical sense in their collective little fingers than all you pompous snobs put together.

And who makes this country run? Is it the self righteous intellectual sitting behind his lunchtime quiche and Perrier discussing how America is responsible for everything from the 9-11 tragedy to an epidemic of hang nails in Austria.

Or is it the farmer who gets up before the sun does and works until it goes down again producing the absolute necessities this country has to have, including the quiche, of course the Perrier comes from France.

Is it the war protestor who has nothing better to do than scream about President Bush being another Hitler, or is it the sons and daughters who go to war so they can have the right to protest.

Is it the supposedly expert guests on the television news shows who claim to have all the answers who come up with the best solutions? I think not and I can show you more wisdom at a small town cafe at
5:30 in the morning than you’ll find all day long on CNN.

You see the problem with you people is that you’re long on ideas but short on action. You actually think that if we leave the terrorists alone they’ll leave us alone. You think that the murder of an innocent unborn baby is perfectly fine but that capitol punishment is cruel. You think that public pornography is a constitutional right but that public display of the Ten Commandments is not. You actually believe that the United States should give our sovereignty over to the United Nations and let them meddle in our domestic affairs.

Give me old John working in a tobacco field down in Bladen County, North Carolina.

He knows that no matter what we do the only terrorist that will ever leave us alone is a dead terrorist.

He sees abortion for what it is, murder called by a fancy name.

He believes that there are crimes horrible enough to merit capitol punishment.

He believes that pornography is an abomination and that the public display of the Ten Commandments is a right.

He would trust the United Nations about as far as he could throw his tractor.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
