Unmitigated Bias 05/17/04

If anybody has any doubt about where the interest of the major media of America lies they need only to grab a few recent back issues of USA Today and many of the other major city newspapers and see what is most prominent on the front page.

The admittedly regrettable action of a few U.S. soldiers at Abu
Ghraib prison in Iraq has gotten more major media attention in the past few weeks than any subject since the beginning of the war.

More ink and more air time that the cutting of Daniel Pearl’s throat.

More ink and more airtime than the murder of some U.S. citizens who were hung from a bridge and set on fire.

More ink and more airtime than the decapitation of United States citizen Nick Berg.

Will somebody please tell me why Jennings, Rather and crew are more concerned about the welfare of Iraqi religious zealots who are bent on the destruction of everything we stand for than they are about the welfare of innocent American citizens?

The fairy tale that the decapitation of Nick Berg was done in retaliation for the events at Abu Ghraib prison just doesn’t hold water. What motivated these pigs to cut Daniel Pearl’s throat or mutilate and burn the bodies of the other Americans?

These atrocities took place before the events at Abu Ghraib were ever brought to light.

The media just seems bent on doing everything they can to make America look bad. It doesn’t make any difference what else is going on. If it doesn’t degrade America I guess in their book it’s not fit to print or broadcast.

It’s not that I think the unfortunate events at Abu Ghraib prison
should not be aired and those responsible identified and punished. It’s just that enough is enough. Weeks and weeks of daily coverage showing the same pictures over and over, repeating the same words again and again is ridiculous.

The American public was well informed weeks ago and it’s time to move on. The situation is well in hand, is being dealt with and all the media is accomplishing by whipping this dead horse is giving encouragement to an enemy who needs no further motivation.

Is the beheading of Nick Berg important to you people? Or doesn’t it matter? Why are you giving a gang of bloodthirsty murderers a free pass while you rub America’s nose in the fact that a few soldiers did some very foolish things?

I can’t figure out why you people in the media feel that it is your mission to paint the land that gives you your freedom in such a bad light.

Shame on you.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
