Political Terror 03/19/04

We have been making a lot of headway in our war on terror but last week the terrorists won a huge battle when the bombing of a train in Spain swayed the outcome of a very important election.

We all know the outcome of the election, a hard liner was defeated by someone who will, from all appearances, be much softer in his approach to fighting terror.

But that’s not the point, the people of Spain have the sovereign right to elect whatever kind of government they so desire,
conservative, liberal, socialist or communist for that matter,
but the point is that their decision was made under duress. They went to the polls scared to death and in essence told the terrorists, ”We’ll get our troops out of Iraq, just don’t hurt us anymore.”

Now that attitude would be bad enough if it worked, but the cold hard truth is that it doesn’t and never will. Now everytime the Spanish do something the terrorists don’t like they can expect another act of terror and everytime they cave in they give another little piece of their national soul to these maniacs.

How long will it take the world to realize that you can’t placate terrorists? They define acquiescence as weakness and will exploit it wherever they find it.

And how long will it take the world to understand that they don’t hate the western world so much for what we’ve done as for what we are and what we are not? What we are is a free people who refuse to be dominated by imams and radicals who treat women like cows and cut off people’s heads.

Do France and Germany really believe that they are safe from the terrorists just because they refused to send troops to Iraq? Don’t they know that the same thing could happen to them that happened to Spain? And unfortunately, probably with the same result.

I learned in my grammar school days that you can’t give in to a bully. If you do he’s going to harass you everytime he sees you.

I had a situation in the fifth grade. I had just started at a new school and a big boy immediately started picking on the new kid.
I let it go on for a while and then one day we got into it and I kicked his butt all over the schoolyard. And not only that, everytime the school door opened that day I was standing there waiting for him. That put an end to that.

That’s what we’ve got to do with terror, we can’t give in to it.
We can’t placate it or make it go away by electing some milksop
politician with the attitude that if you’re nice to the terrorists they’ll leave you alone.

Everytime terrorism comes out the door we have to be standing there waiting for it and proceed to kick the stuffing out of it.

If the world would just come together on this one issue, we could take our collective military might and go to the countries who hide terrorists and tell them to give them up or we’re coming in to get them. What could they do? No nation has the right to harbor terrorists.

But that is not going to happen so we’ve got to look out for ourselves and in my opinion we should do so with a vengeance, not concerned about what the rest of the world thinks about
us.

We are in an “us and them” situation here, the terrorists against the rest of the world. I just wish that the rest of the world would start acting like it.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?
