Irresponsibility 03/08/04

I know that the press loves controversy and dissension. They literally thrive on it, the more sensational, the better, and I’m certainly not condemning them for it. Evidently the American public has an insationable appetite for it too or they wouldn’t spend so much time on such subjects.

No, it’s not their preoccupation with sensationalism that bothers me, it’s their reticence to renig when they find out they’ve made a mistake.

A good example is the recent white-hot debate over Mel Gibson’s ”Passion of The Christ.” They paraded a handful of guests in front of the American public who claimed that the move was going to bring on a wave of anti-Semitism unparallel since the programs of the early 20th century.

A Jewish friend of mine, a very worldly and educated man was convinced that upon seeing the movie some people who would go out and start burning synagogue.

First of all, you can’t be a Christian and an anti-Semite, the two cannot coexist. God called the Jews, ” my people” and told us in His word that if we blessed Israel we would be blessed and if we cursed Israel we would be cursed.

God choose the Jewish race above all the other people on earth to bring forth our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, himself a Jew.

Ok, we’re well into the release of the movie and where is the anti-Semitism? Or more importantly why hasn’t the media done anything to let the world know that it didn’t materialize? Why can’t they interview the same bunch of alarmists who started this fallacy in the first place and ask them what happened?

There are those who would drive a wedge between the Jews and Christians. Brothers and sisters we can’t let this happen.

God’s word tells us that as gentile Christians we have been grafted into the tree that is Israel. So in essence, when we accept Jesus we become a Jew.

My biggest fear for this nation is not terrorist bombs but that one day America will elect an anti-Israeli President, one who will no longer support the Jews and will turn this nation’s back on Israel.

Should this happen I believe that it will bring on the decline of America as a super power.

Israel will be the bone of contention which gets stuck in the collective throats of the world. And the whole world will turn against them.

Where will America stand in that day? Will we be the friend to the
children of Israel that the dictates of Almighty says we should be or will we let some new age politician lead us down the primrose path of anti-Semitism and ultimately destruction.

I declare here and now that I love my Jewish brothers and sisters, that I support Israel’s right to exist, that I stand firmly against any and all anti-Semitism in whatever ugly form it may take, be it violent or political.

And that’s just part of being a Christian.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
