What Is The Truth? 02/23/04

Every time you hear one of John Kerry’s supporters on TV they talk about how Kerry has tremendous support from the veterans in this country, which is in contradiction to the e-mails I have received.

In fact, if my memory serves me right, I don’t remember getting even one e-mail about Vietnam vets supporting Kerry.

Now I know Mr. Kerry served in Vietnam and I commend him on his service just as I do everyone who has ever been in uniform, but I can’t help but wonder how the Vietnam vets feel about him.

Since I don’t particularly trust the pundits and talking heads on television, I would really appreciate it if I could hear from some of you Vietnam vets this week about your feelings on John Kerry.

Let me say that I never served in the military and am not trying to sit in judgment on one who has, but Mr. Kerry is running for President and that sheds a much different light.

Mr. Kerry severely criticized President Bush for going to the Daytona 500 recently but Mr. Bush was just doing the same thing Mr. Kerry was, campaigning.

But I’ll bet Mr. Kerry was a little bit jealous that he didn’t think about going to a NASCAR race, although I can’t quite imagine him trackside with Sterling Marlin’s pit crew, he might mess up his hair or get grease on his suit.

I’ll have to admit that I haven’t kept up with Kerry’s voting record in the Senate but I think that his political stance is about ten clicks left of Teddy Kennedy and that’s practically bending over backwards.

I do see something positive about the election should John Kerry get the Democratic nomination. The American people will have a clear cut choice between liberal and conservative.

Of course Mr. Kerry has not yet won the nomination, he has a lot
of miles to go before he can claim a place on the ticket and he has not yet been put under the white-hot media light as of yet. Like all of us, I’m sure Kerry has some skeletons in his closet.

While I honor Mr. Kerry’s service to our military, it doesn’t seem quite right that he would serve in Vietnam and come home and turn on his brothers in arms.

There were certainly war crimes in Vietnam but they were few and far between. The vast majority of the military who served there were honorable, patriotic men who were in Vietnam fighting for America just as much as any soldier who fought in any war this country has ever been involved in.

They deserve to be honored, not lumped in with the miniscule amount of bad apples who were responsible for the incidents of violence against the Vietnamese people.

Why didn’t Kerry even mention the inhuman cruelty of the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong to their own people? He must have known about it.

From what I understand Mr. Kerry was pretty hard on the guys who served by his side in Vietnam and in so doing associated himself with some pretty far out people. It is not often mentioned that
such groups as the American Communist Party had a presence at the anti-war rallies and were even allowed to take to the podium and speak.

During his campaign I haven’t heard Mr. Kerry mention the Vietnam war except to let us all know that he served there.

I wonder whose medals he threw over the White House fence?

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America.
