Clarification 07/14/03

There are about a half dozen people out there who correspond
with my Soaptalk mail box regularly who literally hate what I write.

I don’t know why they continue to read the column when it is obviously
so detrimental to their collective blood pressure.

I have been called a disgrace to America, and that’s one of the kinder
terms they use. They have even said that I was a hillbilly, a result
of inbreeding, a redneck, a war mongering s.o.b., a has been, and the
list goes on.

Well let me pour a little high octane on your condescending flame.

In so far as the “has been,” I will play over 100 concerts this year
all over the country performing for somewhere in the neighborhood of
750,000 people. Our new single entered the charts this week and I have
a book coming out this month.

As far as being a hillbilly, I’ll wear the title proudly. I love
country music and even chew tobacco once in a while, but in-so-far as
my lineage is concerned I’ve seen my parents’ marriage certificate and
know both sides of my family really well, and no kin whatsoever existed
between my mother and father.

Now let’s address the redneck moniker. I love the National Football
League, I am an avid NASCAR fan, I drive an SUV and own more guns than
most people, which I take great delight in shooting.

I believe that a man has a right to protect his family and property and
that when somebody walks into a place of business with a gun in his
hand he is fair game and if he gets killed in the process it’s his own
fault.

I don’t know of one Muslim or Hindu who came over on The Mayflower or
fought in The Revolutionary War and I don’t believe that we should have
to change the customs of our country to accommodate their ways.

I believe that pedophiles should be hung and that the only good
terrorist is a dead terrorist.

I believe that the official language of America is English and that the
people who come here should be required to learn how to speak and write
it and not the other way around.

I believe that America is a sovereign nation and that we should not
allow our troops to be under the United Nation’s command, no matter
what the rest of the world does.

I believe in God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit. I
believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, not a way, a
truth and a life. I believe that no man can come to The Father except
through The Son.

Why do I believe that? Because that’s what the Bible says, which by
the way, I believe every word of.

I believe in school vouchers and that true marriage exists only between
a man and a woman.

Oh and by the way, I do have a bass rig.

Pray for our troops.
