Animal Nuts 06/09/03

I saw one of the most disgusting things on television the other night
I’ve ever seen in my life. There was a P.E.T.A., People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals, spouting some of the most ridiculous
statements I’ve ever had the displeasure to hear.

They think that animals should have about the same rights as people.
They don’t believe in eating meat, butter or cheese, wearing wool or
furs or doing animal research to alleviate human suffering.

Can you imagine that? I can’t even begin to enumerate the amount of
diseases which have been eradicated by using laboratory animals.
I would like to see some of these people walk into St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital and tell some of the parents who have brought their
children to Memphis as a last hope that their children's’ lives are no
more precious than a mouse.

Or I would like to see them go to the Arctic and tell the Eskimos that
they can’t eat seals, whales, fish and polar bears. I seriously doubt
if they’d listen since they’d starve to death since that’s about all
they have to eat.

They say that we should all be vegetarians. Well what about the
animals and insects which destroy the crops? Can you imagine how their
numbers would increase if we didn’t control them? Soon there would not
be a plant or tree which wouldn’t be in danger of being destroyed.
What would we eat then?

What about mad dogs and rogue tigers? Should they be left alone too?
They’re animals.

I believe in the ethical treatment of animals and treat my animals
well. I feed them and water them and if they are sick I have a vet
come and look at them. And I also know that there are people who
mistreat animals and deplore the practice, but I’m much more concerned
about the ethical treatment of human beings. How about the ethical
treatment of unborn babies?

Well let me say a few words to you who put the welfare of animals above
the welfare of humans.

God gave man authority over this planet, every animal, every fish and
every plant, and I claim the right that He gave me.

I will ride horses, I will eat beef, I will wear leather shoes and
belts and it’s absolutely none of your business.
If you had any idea how downright foolish you people look
having naked demonstrations, and covering yourselves with red paint,
lying in the doorways of places selling meat, spraying paint on fur
coats that people have purchased with their own hard earned money.
Some of you have even destroyed the property of innocent people trying
to press your depraved point.

How about the ethical treatment of other human beings and their
property?
One of these days some of you people are going to spay paint the fur
coat of the wrong person and that person is going to pick up something
and bust your head. And one of these days one of you are going to try
to burn the wrong business and the owner will protect his property and
put a hole through you.

But you can’t say a word, isn’t that their right to protect their
property? Isn’t that what you people are all about, rights?

Pray for our troops.
