Politicians, People and Foolishness 09/22/03

I believe that the form of government we have in the U.S.A. is the best
in the world. The only thing wrong with it is the politicians.
Something that really gets me riled up, and both parties do it, is
for the Congress to hold up legislation which would benefit the
country just because it’s proposed by the opposing party.

Aren’t these people supposed to be serving the nation and not a
political party? What difference does it make whose name is on the
bill as long as it is good for the country?

I think that some of these congressmen and senators would really like
to see the economy and other things do badly while the other party is
in power and in my book that’s criminal.

And you always have to read between the lines to tell what they are
really talking about. Tom Dacshle took his hat out of the Presidential
ring stating that he wanted to stay in the senate and lead the
opposition.
What he really should have said is, my people have been doing a little
research and I couldn’t get elected as dog catcher anywhere outside
South Dakota.

And how about when Charles Rangle proposed that we reinstate the draft?
He claims that the military is made up of mostly minorities and that
if we included a broader demographic by having the draft that we would
be more cautious about sending our sons and daughters to war.
What a crock. Our military is all volunteer. Nobody, minorities
included, is forced to join. And besides that, I take Congressman
Rangle’s proposal as a slap in the face of our military.

Congressman Rangle should go out among our troops regardless of what
race or financial strata they come from. They are motivated, sharp,
smart and ready to defend this country at the drop of a hat. They
don’t need people among them who are there just because they have to be.

It sounds noble on paper but what Congressman Rangle really meant was
it’s been pretty slow for publicity lately and this should get me on
Hannity and Combs.

And Hillary Clinton doesn’t want to run for president in 2004 because
she wants to stay and serve the people of New York.
Oh sure Hillary, what about the people of the great state of Arkansas
which you and your husband have so deftly cut out of your life?
No what Hillary really means is, “I ain’t gonna run against George W. I
ain’t got a chance, I don’t want to look bad. But watch out for me in
2008, people of New York notwithstanding.”

And how about the big to do about Trent Lott. I’m not defending what
he did, it was political suicide and he should have known it.
But how about Hillary Clinton hugging that Middle Eastern leader’s
wife? Guess it just depends on who’s doing the hugging.

It’s strange to me that some of these people are willing to go to the
wall for the life of a single spotted owl and won’t raise a hand to
defend the life of a baby, even when it’s pulled out of its mother’s
womb and has a pair of scissors stuck into its innocent head and has
its brains sucked out.
There is no defense for partial birth abortion. It is out and out
murder, and will be treated as such when the highest of courts convenes.

I don’t expect politicians to be perfect. Nobody is. But I do believe
that they should hold themselves to a higher standard and be citizens,
not Republicans or Democrats. They should stop trying to destroy each
other because they destroy a little bit of America every time they do
it.

They should stop wasting our money and above all they should always
tell us the truth.

Some people say that’s just the nature of politics, but I don’t buy
that. It’s just the nature of human beings.

What do you think?

Pray for our troops

God Bless America
