European Letter 08/01/03

I wonder if in 1941 when German bombs were raining down on Europe if
the French and other European countries would have been so quick to
criticize us for entering a war in which we had experienced no direct
aggression.

Would they have been angry and frustrated if we had sat back and said
”show us the weapons of mass destruction?” After all Hitler, like
Saddam, had German scientists working on an atomic bomb .

Would they have accused us of unprovoked aggression if we got into the
fight? After all, not one German bomb fell on American soil.

And would France have still been flying the fluer de lis if we had
yielded to financial interests in Germany and refused to go to war
against the Nazis? I think that a swastika would have been flying
above The Eiffel Tower.

Suppose we would have just fought our war against the Japanese and
ignored what was happening in Europe.

Every cross in Flanders Field represents an American life given in the
defense of Europe. And you know what? I believe we did the right
thing. Had we not joined Europe in the war against Hitler they would
have lost it.

And after conquering Europe how long do you think it would have been
before Hitler would have cast his depraved, power hungry eyes across
the Atlantic to the prize of all prizes, the United States of America.

We saved lives and sovereignty in Europe by entering that war and we’re
doing the same thing in the war in Iraq. A man like Saddam Hussein is
never content with abusing his own people.

He wants more and more and without a conscience or scruples of any kind
he would have initiated his evil aggression against country after
country.

He’s proven that. Remember Kuwait and how worried Saudi Arabia was
before the first Gulf War, which incidentally should have put an end to
Saddam Hussein.

Tony Blair is a brave and honorable man who risked massive political
damage at home and bitter criticism from most of the European Union by
sending British troops to Iraq. He saw the danger to the future of all
free nations and answered the call.

And America is indebted to England for that.

Evil unabated is evil in progress and I thank God that we were
victorious in Iraq and in Germany.

The battle against terrorism goes on and will go on until every free
nation bands together, recognizes it for what it is and stamps it out.

In my humble opinion that’s exactly what the war in Iraq was all about.

Thanks England, Spain and Poland.

France, oh well, we won’t go into that.

Pray for our troops.

God Bless America
