Breathing Room 07/12/03

It is strange that the people who claim to be the ones who can feel our
pain, the ones who claim to be compassionate and caring, who are so
concerned with the rights of one atheist that they are afraid that the
mere mention of God’s name in a public place would taint the very
marrow of our children’s bones can be so intransigent and unreasonable
when it comes to some things.

There are people in this country who literally hate George Bush and
want so badly to see him fail that they are willing to accept harm to
America to see it come to pass.

Where are the weapons of mass destruction they say? Why haven’t they
been found?

Here we are, a couple of months after fighting and winning a very
successful war and just because we didn't find an atomic bomb or a ton
of nerve gas sitting in the streets of Baghdad they act as if George
Bush lied about our purposes for going to war.

Do these people honestly think that Saddam never had these weapons? Do
they honestly think that he was not a blood enemy of the U.S.A. and all
freedom loving nations everywhere? Do they honestly think that the
world is not a safer place without Saddam being in power? Do they
actually think that the people of Iraq are not a thousand times better
off than they were under Saddam’s cruelty?

No I don’t believe they do. I believe that they hate George Bush so
badly that they are blinded by anything good that has come out of his
administration. He could never do good in their sight and they are
still not over losing the election.

Well George Bush is the duly elected President of the United States of
America, and that Supreme Court , whom you so highly regard when they
decriminalize sodomy and ban prayer in school, had a hand in making it
happen.

For eight years this nation was led by polls and smoke and mirrors. We
grew so used to seeing the executive branch take the expedient way out
that when somebody comes into office and shows some true leadership we
don’t know how to deal with it.

I believe that the war with Iraq was a just war, a war against
terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. A war of liberation and
compassion.

Do you actually have to see a rattlesnake bite somebody before you’ll
admit that he is deadly?

For those of you who claim that the war was fought over oil think about
this. In President George Bush’s home state of Texas there are
thousands and thousands of dormant oil wells which only need to be
uncapped to become productive. The same is true of many more of our
western states.

We don’t have to have their oil and I would not even accuse Bill
Clinton of putting our military troops in harm’s way just so we could
have access to Iraqi oil, and I will never believe that George W. Bush
would do such a thing.

Hate is a terrible thing. It eats away at reason and blinds the eyes
to all but what they want to see. It causes one to make hasty
decisions and ends in bitterness.

George Bush’s Presidency will be judged by history, as all Presidencies
are. This is as it should be.

In the mean time let’s give him some breathing room.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
