An open letter to President George W. Bush

Dear Sir, The other night when you were speaking at a location I can’t recall, members of the audience were able to ask you questions and a young man in a military uniform prefaced his question by saying that he was proud to call you his Commander in Chief. I am not in the military but I’m proud to call you my Commander in Chief also. Your unabashed stand as a Christian is really inspiring to the rest of your brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and I thank God that the leader of the free world seeks the guidance of his creator in running the affairs of United States of America. You speak in the vernacular of the common man and it doesn’t take a degree in English to understand what you’re talking about. You communicate with the boys down at the farmer’s coop, the steel factory workers and even the high brow, intellectual, highly educated, self aggrandizing chowder heads who frequent the cocktail circuits of our big eastern cities. You’ve surrounded yourself with people of integrity and wisdom, people who have been there, done that, whose advice is garnered from experience and serve because of their capability, not racial quotas and political correctness. The decisiveness, resolve and tenacity you have demonstrated in conducting the war against terrorism is truly exemplary. Your courage and,”The buck stops here”, attitude even further enhances your qualifications as a great leader. I think that Washington and the main stream media are a little bewildered by the boldness with which you speak. Everybody with half a brain knows that North Korea, Iran and Iraq are volatile, dangerous countries, but when you have the guts to say it and issue a “Don’t tread on me”, warning they accuse you of everything from being insensitive to war mongering. Well sir, it’s time somebody stood up and told the American people the bottom line truth. No word parsing, no back tracking, no wondering what the meaning of the word “is”is.Just the plain old gospel truth, whether it be good or bad. I almost feel as if I know you sir. I’ve cleaned up brush, spent a lot of time in the woods hunting and share your love for wide open spaces and dogs. You came from good stock, I had the privilege of meeting your father on several occasions and I think he was a great President and is a great man. I applaud you in having the intestinal fortitude to say that a fetus is an unborn child. The “Save the whales” and “Kill the babies” crowd are shivering in their boots, afraid that the truth about abortion is going to dawn on the American public, and maybe even some of the adolescent politicians who walk the halls of Congress. Don’t worry too much about how the media treats you. They are an incestuous bunch, in that they sit in their ivory towers and pontificate instead of reporting, only associate with others of their ilk and know next to nothing about what’s going on in the heartland. They don’t understand you and they fear you because the rank and file citizenry not only supports you but we trust you and love you. You are our man, you are one of us and as they’d say in your home state of Texas,”we’re mighty proud of you”. You are in my prayers. May Almighty God comfort and guide you as you pursue the awesome task of leading this nation.

What do you think?
