Knowing Our Enemy

I don’t worry about any nation or combination of nations being able to defeat America militarily. I don’t fear the Soviet Union or China. I’m not concerned that the entire Arab world could so much as put a dent in our defenses in an all out war. We have the greatest fighting machine ever known to man, with dedicated personnel and fearful technology that we probably haven’t even seen used yet. Yes we have the means and the resources to win any war, but do we have the will? If we are going to be squeamish about body bags and collateral damage, we will lose this struggle. As deplorable as it is, casualties are inevitable, as is the unfortunate killing of a certain amount of civilians. We cannot defend America’s freedom without risking lives, that is what war is about. I hate war. I hate the fact that the countries of this world cannot live together at least in peaceful coexistence if not complete harmony. But that is not the case and the fact remains that the world is full of terrorists who would like nothing better than to dismantle the United States of America piece by piece. I don’t worry about the capabilities of our Army but I worry about glib politicians like Tom Daschle who seem to put politics ahead of patriotism. I’m not concerned about the might of our Navy but I’m very concerned about a media who bashes our military every time they get a chance. I’m sure our Marine Corps can handle any situation that arises but what bothers me are the wet behind the ears college students who protest America defending herself. I know our Air Force is the best in the world but if their hands are tied because of too much caution what can they do? Our Coast Guard can guard our shores against invasion but they can’t do anything about our lax immigration policies. Does it seem strange to anyone but me that America is drowning in political correctness while our enemies dance in the street because of our pain? What would happen if one person appeared in public, burned Yassar Arafat in effigy and carried a sign which read “Death to Arabs”. Now just what do you think would happen? Yet our enemies do such things on a regular basis with impunity and immunity. America was unprepared for the Second World War. It took sweat, blood and dedication beyond today’s comprehension to win that struggle. But one important factor was that we knew who our enemy was and went after them with everything we had. We gave no quarter. We fought tooth and nail and let the chips and the bombs fall where it was necessary. Why do we tiptoe around Yassar Arafat and the rest of his scum bag murderers? Why didn’t we drop a bomb on Saddam Hussein's head when we had the opportunity? Why does our media degrade and scold Israel for doing something that is going to have to be done sooner or later anyway? Should they wait for another dozen homicide bombers to blow up more of their citizens before they do something about it? Why are there people who want to bring the al Qaida detainees in Cuba to America and give them a show trial so a few hotshot lawyers can get their mugs on television. That is total insanity. It seems that we still haven’t learned our lessons, even after the fiascos of Korea and Vietnam, where the politicians tied the hands of our military in wars we should have won in a few months. In my humble opinion, if we are going to fight a war we should have both barrels blazing. We should bomb Saddam Hussein twenty-four hours a day and destroy him and every shred of military hardware he has and any of his military people who get in the way. We should stop differentiating between our terrorists and Israel’s terrorists. A terrorist is a terrorist and should be shot down like the rabid dog he is. If we’re going to be at war, let’s let the dogs out and get it over with.

What do you think?
