Thanksgiving 2002

As 2002 draws to a close and we approach Thanksgiving Day, the world is
in turmoil, but the U.S.A. has not suffered another 9 /11 style attack
and for that we should be thankful.

The beltway snipers have ended the lives of many innocent people, but
the police have them in custody and we should be thankful for that.

It looks as if we’re going to war with a despot who would like nothing
better than to destroy us, but we have the military might to win, and
for that we should be thankful.

The airwaves are clogged with nay sayers who take great joy in telling
us that our economy is headed south, but the truth is that we’ll
persevere just like we always have and we should be thankful for that.

We still have free elections in this country and for that we should be
thankful.

The danger to America from maniacal suicide bombers and hostile
governments is very real, but we still have young men and women who give
up part of their lives to protect us from them and we should be thankful
for that.

Some of our European allies are turning their backs on us forgetting
that if not for the U.S.A. the map of Europe would all be one color,
but with the help of the ones who are still loyal. We can still carry on
to whatever victories need to be won, and for that we should be thankful.

The events of 9/11/01 have changed the lives of everyone in America
forever, but the subways still run, the planes still fly and the
football games are still being played and we should be thankful.

While some of the world can’t feed themselves, the most productive
farmers on earth till the most fertile soil on earth and feed and clothe
this nation abundantly, and for that we should be thankful.

If we listen to the major media in this country they would have us
believe that all the news is bad but stop and think about this.

Babies are still being born, cancer is being cured, the sun still rises
and a full moon is just s beautiful as ever. The rain still falls, the
wind still blows, the bees still make honey and there’s nothing quite
like the sight of quietly falling snow.

Music is still being played, books are still being written and Hollywood
even manages to make a great movie once in a while.

Children still play, young boys still flirt with young girls and old men
continue to impart their hard earned wisdom.

The heart of this nation is still charitable, still caring, still
compassionate. A hug is still comforting, a good laugh is still
healing and love still rules supreme.

Eagles still soar , long leaf pine trees still whisper in the breeze
and well water still tastes good, and there’s nothing like watching a
cork bob in your favorite fishing hole, and for all that I am truly
thankful.

The freely given salvation of Jesus Christ is still available to
those who sincerely seek it, and for that we should be most thankful.

Thank you Lord for the U.S.A. , for freedom, for opportunities to live
our dreams. For the rockies and the smokies, the Atlantic and Pacific,
for jostling interstates and quiet country lanes.

Thank you for the mighty cathedrals and the little white chapels. For
solace and sustenance, security and salvation.

If God be for us who can be against us.

What do you think?

God Bless America
