Misinformation

I recently received an e-mail from someone who was calling President Bush an idiot and blasting the Republican party for not allowing an increase in the minimum wage, among other irate ravings . I also received an e-mail from someone asking me to sign a petition requiring insurance companies to allow women having breast cancer operations to spend more time in the hospital. Now raising the minimum wage and allowing women with breast cancer operations to have more hospital time are noble causes And if that’s all there was to the labor bill and the patient’s rights bill I would support it one hundred percent, but that is not the case. I feel that many of these people have been taken in by misinformation and scare tactics employed by politicians who are unwilling to have the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth to come out. As is almost always the case with our self serving politicians the devil is in the amendments. For instance, did you know that if the patient’s rights bill would pass as it is now written, it would make businesses who choose HMOs or other sources of medical care for their employees legally libel for botched medical procedures? Now what do you think is going to happen if this takes place? No business can afford to take the inherent chances this presents. All they can do is stop offering healthcare benefits, maybe paying the extra money to the employee to purchase their own insurance plans, which would be strictly elective. Considering the irresponsibility of some people can you imagine how many of them would simply not get insurance, and when they get sick guess who ends up paying for their care? That’s right, the taxpayers. People it’s time that we woke up to the fact that there is an element of our government who would like nothing better than to socialize medicine putting more power into their grubby hands. Can you imagine what it would be like and the size of beaurocracy it would take to run such a behemoth, and the caliber of medical care which would be mandated by a bunch of power drunk politicians who can’t even run a railroad. It would be horrendous, and if you have any doubts about that all you have to do is ask some of our neighbors to the north in Canada. Socialized medicine is ten percent healthcare and ninety percent paper work, with duplicate and triplicate forms to fill out everytime you take an aspirin. How would you like to be told that you can no longer, under penalty of law visit your family doctor, or that your knee surgery would have to be put off for six months before it can be fitted into the system. The government is not our keeper, nor is it our mother or father and is not designed to take care of us from the cradle to the grave, and people who want more and more government programs are playing right into the hands of those who would take control of every aspect of your life. I’m not against government programs to assist the truly needy but if you’ll look back over the last forty years of the great society what have these programs accomplished. They have cheapened the sacred blessing of childbirth by encouraging people to have children because of the stipend the government pays them while the money ends up in the pockets of crack dealers and the children end up on the street. They have encouraged slothfulness and laziness by allowing some bum who has no intention of holding down a job to draw money from one program or another. Just look around you at what the government has wrought. Are you happy with the post office, the welfare system, the state of our federal highways? How do you feel about sitting in a crowded airport for three hours because the FAA allows the airlines to oversell your flight? How do you feel about your tax money going to some pet project of Senator so and so, just so he can get reelected? And some of you people want to put more power into the hands of these spendthrift prima donnas. I say no, in fact, I say hell no.

Pray for our troops.

What do you think?

God Bless America
