School Shootings

We all need to face this unholy phenomenon which is happening in our schools. It can happen anywhere in this nation. It is not restricted by size, academic standards nor neighborhoods. What really brought it home to me was when a thirteen year old boy made a kill list and one of my friend’s daughter’s name was on it. This was in a Christian school in a small community, something I never thought I’d see happen. Thank God he was discovered in the planning stages and no actual shooting occurred. We have got to face this horrible problem head on. We can no longer think that it just happens to other people in other towns. It’s an epidemic, a scourge, a nationwide plague with dire and sinister implications. It’s too late to nip it in the bud but at least we can start doing something serious about it now. What do we do? I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I do believe I have some. Our children are too impressionable and important to be subjected to the standards of political correctness. Some things are right and some things are wrong and no matter how diametrically the truth goes against today’s social mores, children should be told the truth. Some music is bad ,some television programs are bad, some movies are bad, some behavior is unacceptable and when you do something wrong there are consequences to pay. There is absolutely no need to wait for the government to do anything. The things they do are for show and have to be done with the approval of the Washington Post. We can’t expect the entertainment industry to do anything because they’re only motivated by profit, and just don’t care. It has to start at home at a very early age, and the most important part of the process is love. Do you hug your child? Do you ever take time to sit down and talk to them? Do you have any idea what they’re doing when they’re not around you? Are you willing to do them the favor of punishing them when they do something they know they shouldn’t? Are you letting a television set raise your child.? Do you not see the harm in letting them watch things you know are way off center? Don’t you think that it will have an impression on them? Well let me tell you something, younger and younger children are practicing oral sex these days, children who didn’t even know the meaning of the term until a certain scum bag President made it a household word. And I can hear it now, if we could just not allow the public access to guns. Baloney, we can’t even keep the public from having access to crack cocaine and it’s already against the law and probably kills more people every year than guns do. It’s a sad thing to say but children who take guns to school should be very severely punished and I’m not talking about a slap on the wrist. The problem is way past being serious and we have got to face it and act to eradicate it, even if it means taking drastic steps. Steps that are distasteful but necessary.

What do you think?
