Amazing

If it weren’t so serious, Timothy McVeigh’s latest attempt to postpone his execution would be laughable. Their objection this time was that the FBI withheld evidence, which in this case seems to be reams of meaningless papers which would have no bearing of any importance on McVeigh’s case. The crux of the matter is that McVeigh has admitted to the crime and no amount of jockeying by lawyers is going to change that fact. But the wild part of the appeal is this, that since the FBI didn’t submit every scrap of paper that he wanted a hearing in court. Not to proclaim his innocence, nor to introduce new evidence, but to preserve the integrity of the American justice system Now is that about the silliest thing you’ve ever heard? How much justice did he give those 168 people he casually murdered? How about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, is not that what preserving the integrity of the law is all about? That’s about the biggest chunk of hypocrisy this country has ever been exposed to. I’d wager a good sized bet that those lawyers who have burned the midnight oil to try to save the life of a wanton mass murderer would not raise a finger or lose a minute’s sleep over the lives of innocent unborn children who die daily at the hands of other mass murderers in white coats. And how about all the people who oppose the death penalty? I’m certainly not criticizing people who truly feel that the death penalty is morally wrong, but if they are so concerned about human life why don’t we see them outside abortion clinics? It’s amazing to me what our society has turned into. We tolerate crime, drugs and the decay of morality just because of a few powerful loudmouths who tell us that it’s better to be politically correct than sensible. I keep hoping for a champion. For someone who will stand up in the public arena and say,”I don’t care how many votes it costs me, abortion is wrong, the war on drugs can be won, homosexuality is not a normal thing and criminals have to be taken off the street by whatever means necessary. Someone who has the guts to say,”If you smoke cigarettes there’s a good chance you’re going to die from lung cancer, so you are responsible for lighting them up, you’re killing yourself, not the companies who make the cigarettes no matter how despicable they may be.” Some one who will tell the truth, no matter what it is, who will stand up to the powerful media and condemn pork barrel politics. Someone who would state the obvious fact that we cannot continue to allow the flow of illegal aliens, that school vouchers ar not only good but vital to the education of america’s children and the quality of it’s schools. Maybe I’m only dreaming that there’s someone out there who would actually be willing to put America and America’s people first, ahead of party, popularity and self. Maybe I’m dreaming, but there’s hope, there’s always hope.
