America The Wimpy

If the pioneers were to head out to conquer the West in this day and age, the scenario would be quite different than it was all those years ago when those bands of God fearing, self sufficient men and women worked and fought their way across this continent to open the great American frontier. I can just imagine Patricia Ireland’s and the N.O.W. organization’s reaction to women having to do the cooking, have and raise the babies, do the laundry, mending and probably have to walk several hundred miles in the course of the many months it took to make the trip. Not a house husband in the bunch. And how about the scouts and guides who would probably insist on an eight hour work day and coffee breaks. And how about the people who made the run at the opening of the Cherokee strip in Oklahoma. It was first come, first served with the choicest land going to the first one to set his foot on it, which meant the people with the fastest horses and the most determination got the best real estate. Can you see the A.C.L.U. crying foul, claiming that the people who got there first had taken unfair advantage of the people who hadn’t? The court battles would rage on for generations, with nobody winning but the lawyers. And how many of the lilly livered congressmen and senators of today would stand up to the British if we were still a colony. Can’t you just see Barney Frank saying, “Give me liberty or give me death”,or David Bonnier leading a fight against taxation without representation, as much as he loves taxes, or Hillary Clinton signing the Declaration of Independence? And if George Washington had been caught praying in the presence of his troops he probably would have been relieved of his command. We have done a lot of bad things in this country. Slavery, racial prejudice and a myriad of unfair and downright cruel practices which no true American is proud of. But we have done a lot of right things too. We hacked a nation out of wilderness, and not just a nation but the greatest nation the world has ever known. A job done by men and women with vision and guts, who took responsibility for their own actions And fought the odds no matter how overwhelming, no matter how daunting. Intrepid men and women with courage and determination who weren’t afraid to work sunup till sundown and made no secret of their faith in their creator. We have turned into a nation of overfed, spoiled and pampered milksop wimps who whine like a baby anytime things get rough and depend on outside entities for our well being. We have advocated many of our personal rights to a government which is wasteful and inefficient. We have fallen into the silly trap of political correctness arguing over the design of a flag while ignoring the deeper issues of racial prejudice and the so called leaders who stay in power by alienating and pulling us apart. We sit back while Godless organizations are trying to take the name of Almighty God off everything in public life, denying our children the right to pray in school while saying that it’s perfectly alright for a teenaged girl to have an abortion without even informing her parents. Of course there are exceptions. There are still people who stand up for what they believe in, fight for what they think is right and state their opinion no matter what ridicule they may be subjected to. Let’s join them in the fight.

What do you think?
