Gasoline Prices

You can’t get away from the gas pump anymore without shelling out major bucks which just infuriates me. It doesn’t matter what the USA does for other countries, they never seem to appreciate it. As in the case of Saudi Arabia when we put our sons and daughters in harm’s way to liberate them from Saddam Hussein. It just didn’t seem to matter when it came to squeezing us for more oil money. There’s an old adage that says we either learn from history or we are doomed to repeat it. Well, we should have learned back in the seventies just how ruthless and uncaring these people are. What ever happened to Ethanol and all the other grandiose plans for synthetic fuels which were supposed to take us out of the clutches of the Arabs and be much better for the environment? Where are you when we need you Al Gore? I hear people say that we still don’t pay as much for fuel as they do in Europe. Well I don’t give a flip what Europe does about their gas, pardon me, Petrol prices. I don’t want to spend the rent every time I want to drive around the block. Who is going to do something about this situation? Of course, I know Bill Clinton won’t or probably can’t. I don’t know of even one foreign situation he has prevailed in. The Congress will probably try but by the time they get through straining a bill through the two party sieve it probably wouldn’t mean anything anyway, and it would probably have so many pork codicils attached to it that it would look like a New York City yellow pages. So if we’re going to be stuck with these kinds of oil prices I have a few suggestions: Let’s get back to that artificial fuel thing. Since it is plant based it would do wonders for our farmers. Let’s cut any kind of aid, military or otherwise which we are giving to the OPEC nations. Let’s open up the capped wells in Oklahoma and Texas so that our domestic economy can reap some of the benefits. Let’s buy more oil from Mexico and South America and everywhere else in the world it’s available and wean ourselves off Middle Eastern oil. Let’s face the facts folks. One of these days there is going to be a hardcore shooting war in that part of the world and our oil supply is going to be cut off indefinitely, so we may as well go and and do something about it while we can. I for one am getting tired of paying for the mistakes of our politicians over and over again. We should have been stockpiling oil when the price was at it’s lowest. If we had, we could now fall back on that reserve and wait OPEC out. It wouldn’t take but a couple of weeks, a month at the most in my opinion before they would be begging to sell us their oil at reasonable prices.. Hit em where it hurts, in the pocket book. After all, turn about is fair play.

Pray for our troops.
